I like!! Just saw some youtube stuff on him too. I don't want to give up on Fast, though. AV likes him and is already on the roster for next year IMO.

We have plenty of players similar to Fast.

We don't have players similar to Morin.

I really easily do that trade, fwiw.

We have some high end wing prospects (Duclair, Buchnevich), but I'd probably flip a tweener like Fast to add another to the top level pool.

Yeah I know, but I have a man crush on Fast!!

....... Confession time

In all seriousness though I'd do that too.

I proposed Fast for Morin about a week ago on the main boards and a few CHI fans proved receptive. They said Fast is a Queneville (sp?) kind of player.

Sharp and Leddy for Staal and Brassard (picks and prospects as needed)? CHI upgrades their d while suffering a bit up fwd and vice-versa for us.

If the hawks could sign Brassard for $4m they'd save $625,000 on the cap.

If it's a smaller deal, like many on here I've been keen on Morin for a while

Leddy on our 2nd pairing = gonna have a bad time

Between this and the Thornton rumor earlier, I'm amazed how eager HFRangers is will to eat this stuff up and treat it as fact. No major journalist has come out and given any truth to this, let alone mentioned players.

They aren't trading Morin. IMO they view Morin as a replacement for Sharp who will be moved. Moving Sharp and the cap rising next year facilitates the Kane and Toews contract extensions while giving them assets in return.

They have a replacement for Sharp, albeit not an Olympic level athlete in Morin who is cost controlled.

The Rangers don't have the cap space to absorb Sharp, but I'd say he is an ideal fit and need on this team. Guy can play center, score, pk, play the point on the pp, and is very fast, but the cap space just isn't there.

Can the Rangers trade for Richards now that he's signed with another team?

Sharp makes to much and if anyone is dreaming so does Hossa... But again Bickel @4 might just be doable.

And Brad can't play with us this season.

Everybody's bored awaiting and/or dreading the next move.

Sharp has been playing winger for the last several years. If he could play center well the Hawks would not be searching for a #2 center. So if the Rangers deal Brassard who plays center? Stepan, D. Moore, Miller? Lindberg?

What "some cap space" do the Rangers have?

The Rangers have three players who filed for salary arbitration and another player who was not eligible. The Rangers also need to fill out the roster. 13 forwards. 7 D. 2 goaltenders. What made the Rangers a good team was their ability to play 4 lines and 3 D pairs on a consistent basis.

I love the bloggers and twitter people. The Rangers have $14M-$15M to play with. A large chunk of that will go towards those players. The rest will go towards filling out of roster which is not much money. The Rangers also need to leave some bucks to operate the team during the season.

I am hoping its Morin.

Although Hagelin and Richards had good chemistry last year. Would they be interested in Hagelin? Rangers replace Hagelin with Fast who is a similar player. Saves about 1.5 million on the cap.

The only way it makes sense is if it's a very minor deal or it's a deal after Chicago makes an original deal moving Sharp.

They need to dump salary firstly, 2 mil over the cap you know. There is where Bickel fits. ;)

Hagelin is a top PK option and a possession and forechecking beast at 2.5M cap that can score 20 without PP time. He was invaluable in the playoffs and not a player I'd move. I'd also keep Fast and see if the offense Fast showed in the Euroleagues translates, if not then Fast is a cheap bottom 6 option that is 3-Zone savvy.

The cap prevents both teams from trading big pieces to one another. The Hawks essentially have their defense set unless they want to move Roszival to get under the cap. They are set up front if they move Bickell out.

Moving Sharp isn't a necessity, but a forward thinking move that keeps Toews and Kane long term while getting cheaper assets to fill his role.

What if the Hawks retain salary on the Sharp contract? Does that make the move the Rangers viable... and if so why would they when they don't have to?

The Rangers are depleting their weak center depth nor do they have cap space to spare, and the Hawks aren't taking in money.

This rumor doesn't make sense unless their are a multiple moves from both teams.

Sharp also has a NMC, but imo Chicago moves him before the Kane and Toews deal kicks in.

Maybe it might be a minor league move, or prospect trade.

Regarding this the Rangers could trade for Sharp but a somewhat commensurate contract would have to go back the other way. I don't really see that happening. The Rangers have three arbitration contracts to work out with key players. Most of their cap space is going to them and John Moore is going to take some more.

More minor deals I could see. I'd be okay with Morin for Fast.

Fast + mid-late round pick for Morin.

Addresses the top 9 wing hole i mentioned in the Mueller thread at a low cost. And after that it would look like the roster is complete.

C: Stepan, Brassard, Miller, D.Moore
LW: Kreider, Hagelin, Morin, Glass
RW: Nash, St. Louis, Zuccarello, Mueller
LD: McDonagh, Staal, J.Moore
RD: Girardi, Klein, Boyle
G: Lundqvist, Talbot

13th F: Tarnasky
7th D: Kostka or Hunwick

After the RFAs sign, that would leave us with around (probably a little less) 1 million in cap space to operate with during the season.

I'd love to add Morin, but he's pegged to be in the CHI line up. The Sharp trade talk is a result of Morin being ready to contribute offensively and the Toews and Kane deal, so for a cap team like CHI I highly doubt he'd be moved.

How about JMoore for McNeill+pick or SPC?

Chi gets a hometown boy that allows them to move Leddy. JMoore and Leddy are lateral pieces from a depth and cap perspective, although Leddy is a better player. Both are excellent skaters with issues defending in front of the net, but JMoore would save 1.6 on the cap over Leddy.

Trading Leddy would net CHI a good piece in return.

Trading JMoore would allow the Rangers to back fill with Allen or worst case Hunwick while getting a good prospect in return for the forward corps.

Could it be for the rights to Kevin Hayes?? Talk to him and his agent about there willingness to sign with the NYR and a spot on the roster?
