I think it's more his speed that bottlenecks Bedard, until he has some more talent to play with. But once that happens his IQ and shot are going to seriously pop off.

The tank is on full display - Florida totally destroyed us. Like many have said - light years away from a playoff team.

It's been bandied about quite a bit but last year's team did not seem as helpless as this year's edition. It seems they are close to tuning out the new HC & giving up if they haven't yet.

The numbers are pretty close to the same. This team is slightly better offensively.

The real problem comes from that Davidson and company expected it to be better. Which is why Richardson got fired.

Maybe that was delusional thinking (it was) but I think that’s why it feels worse this year

I mean, Richardson can’t coach regardless of the expectations.

But I am extremely worried about the pro scouting if they expected this team to be better. I mean they signed Brodie ffs.

Wouldn’t matter if he was 6’3. 30 year olds always push around 19 years olds. Old man strength is a very real thing.

The only guys they really gave any (moderate) term were Bertuzzi and Teuvo, who have done about as expected. If you're signing guys to 1-2 year deals, you're either bargain bin shopping as is or getting cup chasers, and the Hawks aren't attracting any cup chasers.

And I wasn’t advocating for signing cup chasers. Would have made no sense for where the team is at.

But you’re better off not signing guys at all than signing guys who literally don’t belong in the NHL. I truly believe this team has a couple more wins without Brodie this year. Not that it would help the tank, but he’s taking up a spot from a kid who needs the playing time to develop into a player for the future.

For sure, the Brodie signing really sucked, particularly the 2nd year. Maybe they believed he was hurt, and would have a small bounceback to his level of play a couple year ago. Hasn't worked out, I could see them burying him for next year to keep a spot for a younger guy.
