Could’ve chalked it up as a loss as soon as we scored first.

But also, it’s Florida

This is pathetic. I’d love to know how many times the Hawks have had single digit shot totals in the first period this year. Hell maybe even through 2 periods.

I mean they are playing the defending Stanley Cup champions. It just goes to show how far away this team is from competing for a Stanley Cup.

They have had a few sub 5 shot first periods the last couple weeks if my memory serves.

Messier is a f***ing moron. God forbid the 19 year old kid lose a 50/50 battle to one of the best players in the world.

Subban too. Completely different than Michkov’s benching. Bedard was engaged defensively and lost. Shit happens. Michkov made a conscious decision to abandon defensive responsibility. Not even remotely the same thing

Bedard engages better in the offensive zone, period. In our slot he floats a lot, puck watches a lot and often is very soft when he does play the man. It's not about losing battles. I'm just referring to his play, FYI, not whatever Messier said (didn't watch).

Another game where we, the worst team in the league(as part of our rebuild), are playing a vastly superior opponent, getting dominated as expected…yet so many posters seem baffled/confused about what they’re seeing. This is to be expected by now, ESPECIALLY against an opponent as superior as these Panthers. The kids are coming along. The team is still on track to be in the mix for the #1OA. Nothing to worry about.

Bedard should have prevented that goal full stop.

He needs to be better. He was “engaged” but it was soft. Now I disagree that they need to be benched off the PP buddy we have no one else.

That was an embarrassing period by any stretch.

When the Hawks were on top a team had to put in a fantastically crap effort for us to outshoot them 20 plus to 2 in one period.

And yet we're only down by 1 though so there's that.

I’m not denying that he lost the battle and should have prevented that goal. It’s absolutely a learning moment for him.

To directly call for him to be benched over it is asinine though. If you bench the kid every time he makes a mistake you won’t have a hockey player anymore. If he pulls a stunt like Michkov did the other night? Sure sit him, but he didn’t.

Messier came off as a whiny old f***.

Brodie sucks. That's a given. Same with Martinez.

My concern is Vlasic. He had another giveaway up the middle in the 1st.
For the entire season= 3.45 giveaways/60
Last 10 games= 4.66 giveaways/60
Last 5 games= 5.24 giveaways/60

The trend is not our friend.

Yeah, I don't think sitting for an extended period is good. But I don't think a shift or two off is a terrible thing, especially if he's getting caved in every shift like that.
