I don't get the views here. What level of ranking do people think this roster is? Bottom 5 or mid 15. It's bottom 5 to me. The coaching being a problem doesn't add up.

Every mistake is on the coach. Everything good is in spite of him. At least that’s what I have come to understand reading these boards.

they've been better this year because they improved the roster. that was the least we could have expected. we also haven't been through the same late winter early spring death march that christened last year's team as historically bad.
I don’t see this either. Unrealistic expectations. This team can be 20 points better and be picking top 5 still
They look like a team that went from historically bad for an O6 franchise to a bottom five team still in a rebuild
The last 3 years were extremely hard to watch. I’m engaged with this team

You can mold clay. You can’t mold a rock. This is the first year he has had any clay to work with. The first two years he was given the worst roster in the league and neither year did he finish last
Seems like our young D are developing under him which is encouraging

When it comes to vets coming in, the roster is marginally better. But lets give the young guys and the guys that were already here more credit. Allan after a year in the AHL looks like a veteran at 21. Reichel has improved. Hall is getting his mojo back. Sodo looks way better than what we saw last season and maybe Phillips will be an NHLer yet.

Sure, there are things to criticize. There are also things to praise, which basically never happens. Everyone ridiculed him for sitting Reichel to start the year, and then playing him on the fourth line when he got back in the lineup. Lo and behold, that seems to have worked. Crickets.
I still am on the fence with LR to be honest. I am not convinced that he is a good coach, nor am I convinced he will be here beyond this year. But I also recognize that he did a pretty good job in his first year. Last year was a trainwreck by design. This year the results have not been great so far, but they have been in basically every game and the underlying stats are middle of the road. I just don’t agree with the general perception of this board that LR is some bumbling idiot that should be shot to the moon.
Right but unless they both go down, they still have 6 better options ahead of Brodie.
