Who are the 17 LOSERS who voted not to see Ovechkin break a Gretzky record? You’re either petty or completely insane
✋

For some reason the setting to show who chose what poll option was not available (maybe got killed with the site update), but let it be known that I voted against wanting to see him break the record against us.

No kidding. They’ll never him tying the record again once he breaks it. Nice to be shown a little mercy this season.

Why would you not want to see it against the Hawks? In a tank year?

An ideal result. Ovi get's two to tie the record which is great for hockey but he doesn't put the Hawks in the record book as the team he got the record against including Knight!

I voted no because I was worried if he broke it against us the third goal might be an empty netter. Once they said he told the coach no EN I didn't care.

Couple of takeawys from last nights game:

1) Good on Ovie. Got two good looking goals and didn't want to break the record on a soft open netter. Class.

2) Hawks young D looking good for the future.

3) This team needs to be more than just 98 scoring. We are seeing some of the other kids like Nazar and Moore step up. Positive. Watching Nazar as a second line center didn't make me ask once "why did we get rid of Strome?".

4) We seem to be seeing a bad CB. I would argue its more of an "inconsistent" player. He has been told that he is the next coming and he believes it. The articles written about him being a bust and all puts a lot of pressure on him. He is trying to do it all like he did as a junior (his experience) and its just not enough. He will learn and get better with experience. His confidence is shit right now and he reverts back to the things he did when he was succesful. This kid needs a coach in the worst way (and probably a better mentor).

5) Spencer Knight is going to be lights out if his confidence doesn't get rattled. He needs to be playing with the lead. Once he gives up a soft goal you could almost see him lose confidence. It happened in the Vegas game (stones goal) Avs game (Hawks were winning 2-0 and the second goal the Avs got just looked like it deflated him. In the shootout Mckinnon undressed him and then Lehkonen beat him high to the glove side. Again tonight Hawks up 2-1 and he let the sqeeker through his legs to tie it up. Murphy put the following one in his own net. Then Ovie buried his second. The pattern of 1 or 2 soft goals a night is weighing on him. He will get better and it will elevate the entire Hawks team.

6) Can someone see if Anders Sorenson has a heart beat?

7) Officiating - Nazar's trip sure looked a lot like the play that Martinez was injured on. The standard that the refs use changes from game to game/from ref to ref. The hawks wind up short handed on both situations. It sure doesn't pass the smell test.

nope you're wrong

there was an offseason when they broke him
First, dig up any 2015 draft guide and you'll find his skating listed as a weakness.

Second, anyone who saw him in the league, pre Chicago, will say he was not an NHL average skater.

Third, your argument makes absolutely no sense. Why would the Hawks have been trying to improve the skating of a player, unless it needed to be improved? Give your head a shake.

Strome has always been a bad skater….

But there was definitely an off season during his time in Chicago in which he supposedly worked on his skating the entire time. Then when the games started he was somehow an even worse skater.

He had 67 points in 106 games at the time they tried to fix his skating. The season before the fix, he came close to a ppg, with 52 in 58

But that's really tangential to the original argument you tried to make, that he was a good skater who the Hawks ruined. He was not a good skater when he came to Chicago and he was not a good skater when he left.

I never said he was a good skater

I'm saying the Blackhawks made him a worse one when they tried to re-correct his skating

best thing that probably happened to Strome was Chicago not even entertaining the idea of having him back

Dylan Strome being a top 6 centre on a top 2 team in the league is like Hagel level developement honestly, people thought his career was over in 2021. Curious to see how he fares in playoffs
