GDT: Hawks @ Blues, 22 Mar 2025, 2 PM CT

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
You are saying that because you don’t watch them regularly. The Blackhawks have allowed 246 goals against. The Sharks have allowed 258. The Preds 222. The pens 257, Sabres 241, Flyers 240z. Bad teams let in a lot of goals and look bad defensively when you watch them regularly. It’s not rocket appliances.
over the last 10 games the hawks and sharks are actually in a three way tie for third most goals allowed with the jackets (37 ga). the flyers and sabres have both been worse (38 and 43 ga respectively).

the blackhawks do have the worst 5v5 ga in the league no matter how you slice it. they're the worst over the whole season, the last 25 games, and the last 10. so their team defense has been god awful, but they've been bouyed by above average special teams performances.

Total goals has to do with d and goaltending and forwards. I’m talking about the defensive play and positioning of forwards. Be honest - do you see other teams getting shots wide open in the slot like hawks opponents are each game? I don’t. The Hawks sure don’t. The forwards are leaving d and the goalie out to dry.

Not to mention the Hawks PK has been very good

Watch the sharks. Watch the Predators. Guess what, bad teams, who are hemmed in their zone for minutes on end make mistakes.

I don’t think either LR or Sorensen are great coaches. I think LR was not as bad as many here thought, and I think what has happened since he left supports that. I think Sorensen has been good in the AHL when it comes to development, and I have no problem with Kyle bringing him up instead of making a rushed decision on a long term head coach.
Luke Richardson as HC on this team was a no-win situation for him.
Hawks were at the beginning of a rebuild and were expected to lose ..... which is an opportunity for any coach to try different combinations in all situations. Ironic to me that Luke loses his job because of the teams record under those circumstances. I just hope they can find a new experienced HC who is better.

Why? It’s fine to do a nice little tribute to him but the pre game, post game and a lot of the in game commentary was about Maroon. Nice story but cmon.
Maroon has had a fine career and deserves some accolades. It was the perfect game to honour "The Big Rig" and I imagine he will cherish the memory. He is loved in St Louis and he scored what was perhaps the most important goal in the franchise history.

Very weird that the pre game, in game and post game is all Pat Maroon all the time. Dude was a one year rental for the Hawks and people will forget he was ever on the Hawks. I guess they are really looking for something to talk about.

Is it weird at all? He's on their team, he just announced his impending retirement and like you said, they don't really have anything else to talk about. The guy played almost 1000 games, won 3 Cups and again, he's on the team. What's the issue?

Are the Hawks bereft of talent? Yes, for the most part.

That doesn't give LR or AS a free pass, bad players have lots of room for improvement and good players can grow as well.

Show me an improvement in an individuals play that would likely be attributed to coaching. I really can't see any and that is my gripe.

Zone entries suck, zone exits suck. Defensive coverage sucks. Too many nights with too many fly bys never winning a puck battle.

Have TT or Reichel upped their intensity? Nope.

A team needs talent but there are many other things that can be done to be more competitive.

I dont understand sending down Del Mastro man at all.

What's the logic behind it besides opening up spots I guess for KK and Allan? What message does it send to Ethan?

I don't like it.

I don’t think this comes to as some giant surprise to them. I strongly suspect that they are aware of the plan of getting all the young dmen up here at the end of the year to show what they can do and understand what they need to work on for next year.

Source? Not seeing this anywhere.
I don't see anything on sending Lev and EDM to Rockford.

As for EDM his play indirectly led to two Blues goals- being over-aggressive near the blueline and letting his man get behind him causing Kaiser to go for a swim. Kaiser wasn't any better as he could played the 2 on 1 without hitting the ice and he tried to kill a play and missed on the 4th Blues goal.

But shit happens with 22 year old dmen and it becomes magnified when the team isn't scoring.
