GDT: Hawks @ Blues, 22 Mar 2025, 2 PM CT

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
Is there anything you don’t blame on coaches? Rockford players have been developing well. No issue with Sorensen returning there.
If a team quits on a coach in less than half a season, yeah I’m questioning his ability to coach.

But I brought this point up in the past. Was he actually coaching them up in Rockford, or were they just really talented already in spite of him? Rockford has looked really sloppy this year and lacking any real system. Do you think the kids would suffer being put into a real system down there?

You laterally blame the coach for everything. It was non stop about LR and now it’s the same about Sorensen. At what point will you realize that this is just a really bad team that would be bad no matter what coaches they have.

This team lacks talent obviously but they coaching is just abysmal - notable as evidenced by the defensive positioning of the forwards
But the worst part is seeing Bedard still making the dumb junior hockey moves.

A good coaching staff would have coached most of that out of him by now, IMO. I know there's a fine line there, as the creativity is a big part of his game ... but the unforced errors have go to go.

Hockey is a simple game and needs to played that way. That's what wins Cups.

Bad team is one thing. We are seeing just horrendous D zone coverage by forwards with the slot wide open and forwards in no man’s land.

We all watch a lot of hockey. I don’t see other NHL team do that. I don’t see college teams do that

Sorensen is a bad coach. Richardson was a bad coach. Colliton was a bad coach. Davison has brought in a revolving cast of bad coaches since Q left. No getting around that.

Watch the sharks. Watch the Predators. Guess what, bad teams, who are hemmed in their zone for minutes on end make mistakes.

I don’t think either LR or Sorensen are great coaches. I think LR was not as bad as many here thought, and I think what has happened since he left supports that. I think Sorensen has been good in the AHL when it comes to development, and I have no problem with Kyle bringing him up instead of making a rushed decision on a long term head coach.

Very weird that the pre game, in game and post game is all Pat Maroon all the time. Dude was a one year rental for the Hawks and people will forget he was ever on the Hawks. I guess they are really looking for something to talk about.

I disagree. We’ve seen SJ and Nash in the last couple of weeks. Yes they lack talent and yet they get hemmed in, but I did not see them have complete defensive breakdowns by forwards where the slot is wide open shift after shift. We are seeing probably 8-12 sog against each game from the slot and quite a few have found the back of the net. Compare that to the Hawks Bedard hasn’t gotten a shot from the slot - open or otherwise - in 5 on 5 in as long as I can remember.

You are saying that because you don’t watch them regularly. The Blackhawks have allowed 246 goals against. The Sharks have allowed 258. The Preds 222. The pens 257, Sabres 241, Flyers 240z. Bad teams let in a lot of goals and look bad defensively when you watch them regularly. It’s not rocket appliances.
