Avs announcers should be ashamed of themselves by the way. I heard they basically made fun of Knight's OCD.

Where did you hear this?

I was on the Altitude feed the entire game and never heard anything of the sort. That would be very uncharacteristic of Moser/Rycroft/Liles.

I heard it. They were pretty much just poking fun at how meticulous and superstitious Knight is, then started to comment on their own careers and how "OCD" routines are and my ears perked up when I heard OCD. Awful timing, but certainly seemed more like announcers who weren't brushed up on Knights history than any real malice, convos like this happen like every game (Bedard not letting anyone touch his stick, stuff like that)

Anyone who says they were making fun of Knight is just flat out wrong, but it does highlight that mental conditions like OCD shouldn't be used so casually in a professional setting

So Levshunov looked very good. He looked a bit unsure of where he was supposed to be/what he was supposed to do system-wise in the D zone initially but man the way he skates, the way he handles the puck and moves the puck. That was a great first impression.

You could tell Bedard was pissed that Lev didn't even look at him during the 5-on-3 though. That's going to take some practice. The kid wants to shoot it.

Yea you're correct. I have OCD so I took that very personally because I know what Knight had to go through to get right. But it was more a wrong timing thing on them because of his past issues.

the line choices and match ups continue to show that this team has had clowns coaching them since Q. I want to see what a this group can do with real coaching.

From what I watched of the game, Lev looked good. Smooth, effortless skating and seems like he can snap it around with quick decision making.

The kid with the 40 year old hairline impressed me big time.

Vlasic, Lev, Korch, Rinzel, EDM, Allan, potentially Schaefer? Shaping up to be a solid D corps down the line. Ouuuuu baby

I always thought the home team coach controlled the line matches not the visitors ..last line change ...

But blaming Sorensen the visitorcteM coach inan away game for matching Brdatdvline vs.McKinnon line woukd be fine IF the game was in Chicago..but it was not ..so youvcredit Bednar with doing what a good coach does...putting his top line vs. a not very good Hawks top line which of course cannot compare to the excellence and doininant threat of the McKinnon line.

So totally unfair to criticize Sorensen when he is not in control of the match-up last change...Also what alternative would have been that uch better trying to stop the elite level of the Av's top line?
If you want to criticize Sorenson blame hom for putting no score/no playmaking Dickinson on the top line for the Hawks = guaranteed not to work ..

We know what Dickinson is or should be onany other team=a defensive checking 4C who usually played 3C on the still nerd better forward talent Hawks..
Putting hom as 1RW with Bedard is stupid..Blame Sorensen for that ..not for having no control on li necmatch-ups because Bedar controlled that with last change ...itvisxtoi hard and too dangerous to immediately switch lines on the fly after 1st loss of control after a draw ...maybe sone goid teams can get away with that because whike a forward switch goes on their dmen cobtrol the puck till the switch has changed every forward player on tge switching team...But if Hawks did that Bednar coukd just pull tge McKinnon line too and you are only thing minutes from both top lines and casing endless confusions and the risk of too many late changes and so too many men penalties.

So there are 2 main factors here:

1.Who controls last change..
2. Reluctance of coaches to play an endless chess game of switcheroo..

Thus it cones down to the old hockey truth ...Away teams di Not control the Match-ups ...simple hockey knowledge...but posters criticizing Sorenson either never understood this Bout hockey or they fail to consider Bednar's cobtra moves if Sorenson dod try changing his lines on the fly as soon as possible after Bedard put McKinnon line out vs Brdard line ..Avs had last change after a pjay stoppage...so if Bedard linee comes on...out cones the McKinnon line..
Cap?

Verdict :

In an Away game you can criticize visiting coach for line composition choices but NOT for line match-up choices..because he does not have last change.

I thought Kaiser had a great game. To me seems he was matched against MacKinnon most game. Sure the play behind net comes to mind, but so do the numerous times #29 didn't get around him. Kaiser's skating is amazing.

Levshunov looked exactly how you would want him to look. Physically hes got everything. I love that he just fires the puck at the net. You can see why he racked up points at MS. It wasnt by making pretty plays just by putting it on net and great outlet passes. We didnt even see him jump in on the rush yet and hes very good at that. Hes a little lost on the defensive side but against that team in his first game at a teenager to be expected.

Bedard got little boy'd all night. Still ended up with some offensive chances but he had a tough one. So did Donato.

Kaiser and Del Mastro are playing very good hockey. Kaiser has a knack for playing his best hockey against the best players in the league.

Knight continues to be the real deal.

Veleno is waiver wire coming soon. Slaggert is going to be a good 4th liner for the hawks moving forward.

All and all this team is going on an upswing. They need to swap out a lot of the forwards.

Mackinnon Makar and Necas just bring the game to a whole different speed. Its fun to watch.

Another tough first period, fortunate to come of that 0-0. Thought Leve looked good overall....played a lot more minutes than planned with the Martinez injury.....probably started to get a little gassed by the 3re period. Hawks played them tough.....Colorado made them battle for every inch of ice.....went down 2-0 and seemed to find some fire in the belly to try and come back.....that's team character. To quote The Who..."the kids are alright".
