Bad NJ takes aside, “the coach didn’t make adjustments” is almost always fan speak for “we lost”. Like, maybe Toronto just kept failing in the playoffs because their core isn’t actually that great and the rest of the roster wasn’t very good and it had nothing to do with Keefe?

the Leafs depth, goaltending, and D personnel was really not that good.

They have like 12 playoff games in the last 5 years. Let's compare it with a team from their own division like Carolina for example. Canes played 59 games at the same time and has a higher winning percentage.

Sure Devils can be lucky and win it this year. But there is no grounds to consider them anything other than a dark horse with low chance of winning at this moment.
you always bet on the field.

i am also not sure, if op was talking about the devils being cup favorites. as devils fan i am really happy with their current level of play. there is consistency and there is success. i am not worried about them missing the playoffs. once there a lot can happen. we have seen a great regular season teams falling in the first round and a team outside of the playoff seeds making it to the finals.

The Leafs best dmen the past decade was Morgan Rielly, get the f*** outta here with Keefe being the problem when a 2-3D on a Cup team was/is masquerading as your 1D.

Love the potshots from Leafs fans talking shit about Keefe when your superstar can't even stay healthy playing in Berube's system. Maybe worry about that.

Leafs already beat NJ twice this season. Once with a goalie that was playing his first NHL game against NJ while the team was playing on the second half of a travelling back to back against a NJ team who had a week off.

Maybe NJ just isn’t that good?

leafs got utterly dominated in that game and won thanks to their goalie standing over his head (history of the leafs season so far).

edt: plus, one or two regular season games really mean nothing in the grand schem. Leafs fan are so butthurt about Keefe that they're imputing all Leafs failures over his shoulders and assuming he'll never be able to have sucess in the playoffs

Ironic isn’t it. You’re criticizing the Leafs for being poorly built yet they beat you with an AHL goalie on the second half of a travelling back to back while NJ had a week off.

NJ hasn’t accomplished anything yet their fans act like they’re somehow contenders. They won one round since Morgan Rielly was drafted, and it was in the same year the Leafs won a round.

Buddy your team got their collective skull caved in and by the grace of god Stolarz saved your bacon. Weird game to hang your hat on. And now your superstar can’t even stay healthy in your new coaches system.

The Leafs beat NJ in Hildeby’s first game on a back to back. How are you giving Stolarz credit for that?

They beat NJ twice. Maybe NJ needs some more talent to beat Hildeby and Stolarz.

I mean blaming Berube for Matthews injuries explains your takes pretty well.

Thanks for all your input Leafs fan.

Please let me know when you think we Devils fans should/can be excited about how this season is going. We will wait for you and your permission.

I might need a telescope to find your latest goalposts.

It went from the Leafs are flawed to we can’t beat them cause their goalies are too good to let us know when we can be excited.

How am I moving goalposts? I haven't engaged with you or tried to debate anything you've said.

This is a thread talking about the Devils having a good season. Tied for best record in the league. 4th best in the league on points percentage. Best goals against per game in the league defensively. Second best offense in the league. Overall arguably the best defense in the league. Second best powerplay in the league. Just had a streak of allowing 20 or less shots in 7 games in a row, streak broken and they still won against a good Carolina team.

The team is on pace for 110 points which would be the second best in franchise history.

Yet here you are trying to downplay any accomplishments the team has because of how they played against the Leafs this year. I promise you no one cares. If you want to play that game, the Devils lost 1-0 to the Sharks earlier this season and should just pack it in.

The Leafs have losses to Montreal, NYR, Columbus, St Louis, Ottawa, Pittsburgh, Detroit, and the Islanders so obviously they stink too right?
