WJC: Have eligible players from a Gold Medal team not made the team the next year?

Have there been eligible players who won a WJC Gold Medal for their country not make the team the following year despite still being of age to play and being available for the tournament (not playing in the NHL etc)?

Such a rare thing to leave a returnee off your roster. I can't think of any that have been left off of Gold Medal teams, but there may have been one at some point.
