Haula was a really good 3rd line center 2 years ago and was worth his cap hit. But yeah, last year was an offensive black hole like the entire bottom 6. He's a guy that can PK and be a defensive player on a line and has the ability to get open for good chances, but not great at finishing them.

Just a 4th and a throwaway prospect and even if there were young guys ready for a spot (there probably aren't), I'd rather they stay away from this coaching staff. Plus, if Trotz doesn't completely f*** up the deadline again they'll probably get a 3rd or better for him.

I was worried we were running short on veteran mentors so glad we got him. Also, not that it matters but he’s got a $3M cap hit so should definitely be in cap dump territory not give up assets for him.
