This isn't all that uncommon. The late great Joe Malone scored 5 goals in his first NHL game and followed it up with another 3 goals the next game: Joe Malone Stats and News
He also scored at least 1 goal in his first 14 games in the NHL. That's actually 35 goals in those first 14 games.
