Has there ever been a worse offseason and trade deadline by a new GM than what Barry Trotz pulled off?

If my theory of revenge is right, I wouldn't be surprised if Washington is at the top of his list. But the Preds GM job opened up first and they're also on the list so why not check things off as they present themselves?

Yes, with his performance in Nashville, this decision could hurt his chances of getting hired as the Caps GM to exact his revenge, but terrible GMs get hired by new teams all the time, just like terrible coaches. He might need to make a stop somewhere else and show that he's actually semi-capable to re-establish his cover story, and then take the Caps GM role when the post OV rebuild still hasn't succeeded and Patrick gets non-renewed.

Given how good their prospect pool is, I'm not sure they're headed for a rebuild when Ovy retires. PLD, Chychrun, Protras, Thompson and Strome are all still fairly young too.

Good point. If the team is still doing well after OV, Trotz might need to hire some help to sabotage them while he's rebuilding his reputation. I wonder what his old partner Natasha is up to these days, now that they are no longer chasing that moose and squirrel. :naughty:

Pretty sure Nashville was applauded by many people in the off season
Me included. The vets he signed not panning out isn't his fault, but a lot of the moves since have been terrible. Still can't believe he put Fabbro on waivers
