Has Stamkos played his last game as a member of the Lightning?

Im surprised Tampa is seemingly tossing him to the curb like this. Seems like a foregone conclusion that he’s done there.

If that happens I could see him doing the Pajama Boy thing in Toronto. Although that’d be quite the crappy end to his career ala Thornton, Marleau, Gio, Simmonds etc etc.

Leafs can't afford him and would be an idiotic signing unless he's willing to take a lot less money. And if he is, why the hell would he come here and not just stay in TB?

Well if Marner is gone that frees a lot of Cap. Good point on him staying in TB though, but it seems like they don’t want him back.

If he's gone, he's cashing out. Wonder who makes that massive mistake and signs him at premium. Habs perhaps?

Tampa refusing to pay his ask is a smart decision, still think its 50/50 he takes whatever they're offering over uprooting everything at this stage of his career.

Best guess he signs in Tampa for five/six ish million, or signs in Toronto somehow, maaaybe they move marner after this first round exit.

Really curious on how much he's going to sign for. He's an ideal candidate for huge regression. My guess is something around 7mil for 3 or 4 years but I have no idea what team is going to make that offer.

He still has a wicked shot but he was otherwise invisible against the cats.

Stamkos is a future duck. Killhorn basically said if he he doesn't resign. He's bringing him over lol

Time for Tampa to rebuild. Two Cups and a great run with this core. Let Stsmkos go. Trade others. Dive to the bottom to draft 1OA again.

Wait have people been suggesting he's going to leave? I was always just assuming he'd re-sign but haven't been following it closely

If he takes the Geno contract, with the cap going up they can keep him while still having the cap space to round out the rest of the roster.

So they're not forced to move on from him. It probably comes down to what the alternate options look like.

Doubt they have room with Marner and Tavares both under contract one more year and with full NMCs. They also have to re-sign some RFAs and fill out a couple of other spots (4 defensemen signed, including 1 that is a press box guy in Timmins), including another Goaltender besides Woll (whose career high 23 starts probably means you don't want to rely on a career cheap backup next to him).

$11,500,000-$13,250,000-UFA
$925,000-$11,000,000-$10,903,000
UFA-$800,000-$2,100,000
RFA-$2,400,000-$1,350,000
$1,350,000
$800,000

$7,500,000-UFA
$1,350,000-$2,000,000
UFA-UFA
RFA

UFA
$766,667

This is basically what their current roster looks like at next year's contract status, about $18.5 million to work with.

With how the Toronto market is talking… I think Marners done after the Bs eliminate the Leaf’s.
