Yeah, it's all been said here, and it was all said before. He didn't develop in the Q and in fact took a huge step back as an over-age player when he should have been dominating, especially in that league. And now in his rookie professional campaign he's a JAG ECHLer. There's absolutely nothing there to suggest he's even a quality AHL-level player. It would be one thing if he brought some sort of unique or interesting skill set to the table, but he doesn't. He's not that big, the edge he plays with doesn't really do much, and he doesn't have professional-level offensive skills. So he's a middle-six ECHL guy.

We absolutely should not and will not sign him to an ELC. Honestly I completely forgot he was playing for our affiliate until I saw that he was called up.

I noticed there’s an older Barbashev that seems to have had a good career in the KHL.

They shouldn’t sign Barbashev because he sucks.

If we’re lucky, some other team will be impressed that he scored, and we’ll get some value for him in the next trade.

no they can't - he is not a NYR-signed player, only on a AHL Pack contract for now

well, for sure, this call-up is his last chance to impress enough earn an NYR ELC

March 1 date is approaching, where newly signed contracts don't start until next NHL season

I don't expect him to earn it,
but my weakness is i give kids benefit of the doubt right up the end 8^(
