Hartford lost in OT today 4-3. Othmann did have two goals. The Pack outshot the Checkers 10-9 in the first period. The shots at the end of the game was Charlotte 49---the Pack 18. Do the math of what the last 40 some minutes must have been like. Outshot 40 to 8. Almost unbelievably the Pack had a 3-2 lead going into the final two minutes when Groulx took a slashing penalty and Charlotte tied it with less than a minute to go in regular time. Garand almost stole that......as his team was a no show for the 2nd and 3rd periods and in the OT.

Like every year the Pack go to Charlotte for back to backs and Laval the same. Not sure why they schedule such....not sure it's not a disadvantage for the Pack either. They almost never do well in either situation.

had hopes Pack would be more competitive this season
but they're already 3-1/2 games behind Springfield, which has 2 games at hand,
for 6th, the last playoff spot in Atlantic Division
(and similarly 4GB behind LV, currently in 5th, w same GP as Pack)

too often, they've struggled to generate O,
and have allowed key goals against at critical times

That ending sequence by Leshitshow is one of the worst sequences I've ever seen a pro hockey player do.

not sure why Pack recalling 2 Fs and 2 Ds
but here they come

ECHL transactions for Monday, February 17, 2025:

Bloomington:
delete Ryan Siedem, D recalled by Hartford
delete Carter Berger, D recalled by Hartford
delete Blake Mclaughlin, F recalled by Hartford
delete Brett Budgell, F recalled by Hartford

Rangers practice today without the four US players. Perhaps some Hartford players were called up to fill out the roster for the practice.

Question for our Hartford experts....does the Wolfpack play the same man-to-man system in the defensive zone? In the neutral zone, do they try to play the 1-3-1, or do they do something different from the big club?

Thanks for your input...

Robertson in NY, Brannstrom, Chad and Scanlin all hurt, and they actually did well limiting shots tonight with a ragtag group.

Another loss though, getting late early.

Chad and Jones in tonight on defense. Berard, Othmann and Jake all back in. Louis in net, Belzile and Blidh are unavailable tonight, Groulx is out week to week.

Jones already-1.

Maxim Barbashev 1st AHL game of the season

McGroarty 7th goal of the season. Has 3 goals vs Wolfpack this season.

Why is Jake Leschyshyn still with the organization?? Useless player

Down 2-0 thanks Jake the useless

Wolfpack defense is awful. This is what happens when you don't have young defensive depth. That is a Ranger organization issue. Pathetic

Down 3-0 and the 1st isn't over yet

Penguins 12 shots ti Wolfpack 6. Pathetic

Barbashev first AHL goal. This is why they Rangers should sign him to ELC. Depth is always important. Congratulations

Barbashev from Mclaughlin and Budgell

Now trailing 3-1

I am liking these Wolfpack jerseys

Rangers should give him an ELC. It’s not like they have no space. They can always use more bloodlines lmfao but seriously, some players are better in the pros over juniors. Cody McLeod had more goals in juniors one year ahead of Dubinsky, who was the better NHL player? Stats don’t mean a lot. Otherwise Brad Smyth, and other AHL all-stars would have been a consistent NHL player. Barbashev fills a need. More young depth.

It's not about cap space--they're limited to 50 contracts and Barbashev hasn't proven he's very good. He has like 7 points in like 25/30 games in Bloomington this year. I'm sure we could do better than him.

The issue with the Pack D isn't because of young prospects. Young D prospects usually have a lot of learning to do. The Pack have a lot of experience but the D also has a few guys out---Brannstrom, Scanlin, Harpur....Robertson didn't play and Ruhwedel's been in and out and is probably banged up. Domingue is not having nearly as good a year as Garand. A team gets in a freefall and it's very hard to get back on track.

It's not helping that one game they have ECHL defense call ups McCarthy, Siedem and Berger and the next they have an ECHL line of Budgell, McLaughlin and Barbashev replacing their three top forward point getters in Belzile, Groulx and Blidh.

One of the issues with the Pack D this year is offense from the blue line. That's where Brannstrom could help but he's out now. That's also where Jones could help. They're both smallish puck movers with good offensive skills and they've both struggled to make an impression as NHL players. Smaller defenders tend to have more defensive issues and if they don't produce enough they often do a lot of up and down and get moved around the league until no one's interested anymore.

Barbashev’s inconsistency over the last few years makes me wonder if he’s got drug/alcohol problems.

His progress stagnated in the Q. It happens. Not sure the Rangers didn't draft him because of his brother but......he's not his brother. No where close as a hockey player.

I think it was a sign when the Rangers really had trouble placing him on a CHL team in his overage year. That he didn't come close to a point a game.....if I remember was even worse production wise than the season before was also telling.

If I were him I would probably stick it out in North America or European leagues and not go back to Russia until they settle their problems with Ukraine but I think Russia eventually where he's going to end. It's more than clear he's never going to be an NHL player so wasting a contract on him would just not be smart.
