I had hoped to provide proper links for these holiday suggestions.

Alas & alack, events have conspired against me.

So, bare bones holiday edition, sans the usual:

The Andy Griffith Show, "The Christmas Story" (1960);

"Guess Who's Coming to Christmas," Happy Days (1974);

Frasier, "Frazier Grinch" (1993);

"Do you know what this means?"

"Yes.

"The Cranes of Maine have got your 'Living Brain.' "

Movies:

" The Bells of St. Mary's." Bing Crosby, Ingrid Bergman (1945).

"Holiday Inn."

'You'll shoot your eye out, kid." (1983),

I turned my family on to this charmer.

Now they claim it as their own.

*Impudence.*

"Die Hard" (1988)

"When Harry Met Sally" (1989)

"The Ref" (1994)

PS there are a host of Scrooge adaptions well worthy of viewing,

One stars Henry Winkler; I believe it's called "An American Christmas Carol" or something like that.

On a more somber note, "The Gathering" (1978?) with the great Ed Asner as a patriarch estranged from his children.

Speech to text.

"And that's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown." Sitcom adaptions, not so much.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Seasons Greetings,

✌️❄️

Lately, these generic brand Unisoms either knock me out in ten minutes, or I’m up for two hours stumbling around in an extremely paranoid state.

Last night was the latter. Stood in the hallway in front of my bedroom doorway awaiting an intruder that i was POSITIVE was ready to attack at any moment, but ultimately that was probably the pex slapping around the floor joists in the basement. I’m gonna say i was out there for ten minutes but really it could’ve been thirty seconds to an hour. I have no idea. It was a really uncomfortable feeling to go from wide awake, to nearly comatose, to full blown adrenaline rush ready to fight to the death…all in a matter of seconds.

Let’s see what tonight brings!

I'm thinking maybe you shouldn't take this anymore. There has to be something else out there that can help you without making you paranoid. You might hurt yourself or someone else. 😟

We watch: Christmas Eve on Sesame Eve , Emmett Otter's Jug Band Christmas and White Christmas.

I am so depressed and hope some of these upbeat oldies can lift me up. I feel like a dementor (I won't mention his name) has sucked all of the hope and happiness from me. Some days I feel like I am treading water and can barely keep my head above water.

I love It's A Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street (original) and One Magic Christmas.

I enjoy the specials too - Charlie Brown, On Christmas Eve, The Snowman,

The Snowman, and The Snowman and the Snowdog are SO FREAKING GOOD

My kids used to watch the snowman and snowdog a ton because it was available for free on their Amazon Kids accounts. The songs are all still carved into my memory. I recently watched the full version on YouTube and my god is it ever powerful. Got a little misty in the living room for sure.

Don't bother about Le dément.

Keep your eye on the sparrow and eff 'em if they can't take a joke.

Not to put too fine a point on it,

"F*ck that. And f*ck them.

"And f*ck the f*cking horse they f*cking rode in on."

"I once asked my history teacher how we were expected to learn anything useful from his subject, when it seemed to me, to be nothing but a monotonous and sordid succession of robber baron scumbags devoid of any admirable human qualities.

"I failed history."

I don't drink coffee, I take tea, my dear
I like my toast done on one side
And you can hear it in my accent when I talk
I'm an Englishman in New York
See me walking down Fifth Avenue
A walking cane here at my side
Take it everywhere I walk
I'm an Englishman in New York

(Whoa) I'm an alien, I'm a legal alien
I'm an Englishman in New York
(Whoa) I'm an alien, I'm a legal alien
I'm an Englishman in New York

If manners maketh man, as someone said
He's that hero of the day

It takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile

Be yourself no matter what they say

(Whoa) I'm an alien, I'm a legal alien
I'm an Englishman in New York
(Whoa) I'm an alien, I'm a legal alien
I'm an Englishman in New York

Modesty, propriety can lead to notoriety
You could end up as the only one
Gentleness, sobriety are rare in this society
At night a candle's brighter than the sun

Takes more than combat gear to make a man

Takes more than a license for a gun

Confront your enemies, avoid them when you can

A gentleman will walk but never run

If manners maketh man, as someone said
He's that hero of the day

It takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile

Be yourself no matter what they say
Be yourself no matter what they say
Be yourself no matter what they say

Better to light a candle than curse the dark.

Merry Christmas, Susan,

MGM

Happy vacation to me.... currently in the ER due to chest pain. They don't think it's the heart but doing all the testing. May be reflux or stomach related
I'm glad to hear it's simply Gerd, take care of it and enjoy the next 75 years. Merry Christmas!

I work out of the basement at home and I can hear whenever the furnace kicks on across the other side of the house. Today is a very expensive day and I am not having a good time.

I have seen some tax information in here and I am lost on what my daughter will be taxed on her Stipend next year as a Masters/PhD student in NYC. Is it all taxed as income or do they have special rates for a Stipend. I tried looking it up and there are some variables that I don't understand. I am wondering how much I will have to send her to make ends meet. The exchange rate between Canada and the US is killing me.

Oh my aching ass (well, actually my left hip ) I just finished baking toll house cookies. I've been on my feet for the better part of 3 hours. I can tolerate up to 2 hours fairly well but anything over...definitely going to break into a bottle of Christmas cheer tonight! 🍪 🍾

Have her go to a tax accountant. It'll be worth the money. Her university might have free or low cost tax advisors. When I was in grad school on a fellowship/TA stipend, I got absolutely boned on taxes. TurboTax and similar programs were viewing it all as taxable 1099 income when it turns out a large portion of it should've been written off, so I ended up paying too much tax for those two years and it was too late to do an adjustment by the time I found out.

Not to be a jerk, I am sorry you got screwed on taxes. I was a TA/secretary for a couple of semesters, but I just got a little break on tuition and fees and no stipend. That is probably why I got a very small refund. You are right she should see a tax accountant.

Mmm cookies. I’m the same way. 2 hours are ok, 3 hours and everything hurts and I have to put on lidocaine patches.

My chiropractor is worth every penny.
