of course it was a joke. it was too specific to be real.

Valid point.

How about...

Antti Miettinen steps on tennis ball with skate, slid into boards. Reportedly out 4-6 days, weeks, months or years. TNSE saying all are possible and likely. For now, it's just a "lower body injury". #NHLJets. #bn

Can all of you making fun of my rants on Ladd stop? I was wrong. I don't like him but he certainly isn't a third line player. He wouldn't be a first liner on a cup winning team but it works with the Jets.

You weren't the only one good sir, but I think you just gotta take your lumps. If you still don't like the guy and are vocal about it the crow being dished out will be ongoing and plentiful. I thought it was a pretty weird thing to say at the time, but ensuring a contrary opinion is "enlightened" is a pretty big staple of HF. Coming from a guy who has only mocked said post in my own mind...til now:

KAWWW! KAWWWW!

Cheers.

Why not? Compare Ladd to an abundance of the most recent Cup winning teams/contenders, and I think you'll be surprised how he fits in and is a very similar player to those that have endured success with Cup winning/contending teams.

I think he could be a 1st liner on a cup winning team, it just all depends who he is playing with and complimenting. He won't carry a line on a Cup winning team in my opinion, but neither will a lot of the guys I am about to mention, but they and Ladd could be really good complimentary wingers in my opinion. Pittsburgh a few years back had Kunitz and Guerin with Crosby. Vancouver had Burrows with the Sedins. LA last year had Dustin Brown. Boston in 2011 had guys like Lucic and Horton.

Really, I don't see why Ladd couldn't be just as effective as many, if not all of these players if he were with these teams and in the role some of these wingers were in. I think the theories out there of what makes a "1st line winger" are blown out of proportion and highly overrated.

For example, if the Jets were to be a contender, and say we had Ryan Getzlaf as our top center, I fully believe Ladd could play LW on the top line with Getzlaf and contend for a Stanley Cup. Just as wingers I mentioned in Kunitz, Guerin, Brown, Burrows, Horton, Lucic, etc.. did for their respective teams.

FTR it's 'My good madam'.

Totally correct on the rest of it though. If you are in the Jets forum and you dis a player on the Jets and said player goes on a tear, you are going to experience a little 'I told you so' action :)

great points. Everyone seems to think a really good first line is ALL high end scorers.

Not a single firstline DOESN'T have one "lesser" player on it.

now... a first line made up entirely of players like Ladd isn't going to win you a cup, but most have a guy in his role, and he is one of the best in the league at his role.

I see your point. My brain isn't exactly functioning the way it should with the cold I have. Ladd definitely isn't the type to carry a line on a cup winner. Sedins before the league figured them out could make anyone look good. Hell Taylor Pyatt (as dreamy as his eyes are) had his career bests playing with them. Ladd would be great in the bottom 2 lines of Team Canada. He's a better suggestion then whomever in the media suggested Kevin Bieksa :help:

And I still cheer loud when Ladd scores. Have no idea why I really went on a rant about him.

Aw.. now you've got me thinking about Pyatt's eyes. Not getting any work done the rest of today.

When you search "Taylor Pyatt" in google, eyes is the extension that pops up lmao

Ladd has been playing great lately, but he can still deliver some pretty nice pizza's and in the past had a terrible knack for taking offensive zone penalties.

Either one of those would be enough to complain about him. He isn't my favorite Jet but he has certainly more then made up for his past mistakes with his recent play. I hope he can keep it up.

Nobody can keep up 26+ shooting percentage. Not in yhis era of hockey anyways.

Part of that reason is he does a lot of tip ins.

Slater had a 200% shooting percentage early last year. Two goals, one shot.

No way Ladd sustains this streak over this whole season. Not taking anything away from him, but the puck luck has been there a bit lately. He's as good as I've ever seen him in his career I think. Really good on him stepping up.

I'll be calling him Captain Thirdliner for awhile. Because it's a play on 'Captain Highliner'. Delivering delicious pan-seared goals to your dinner table night after night. I find it clever and funny, even though it really isn't. :naughty:

Shockingly, only 4pms so far. He must have been reading these boards and taken our biggest criticism of him into heart! :sarcasm: Really tightened things up there.
