Hanifin vs. Chychrun

Which defenseman would you rather for us now/going forward?

Who are you going to trade for Hanifin?

Miller? Perrault? A first plus a good prospect?

You can’t extend Chychrun now.

A first, Jones and Berard? More than enough for Flames to get for UFA who doesn’t want to sign. Reasonable cost to spend for a potential first pair D signed to a long-term contract.

Yeah right genius.

Fantasy GMs like you would be perfectly happy blowing up the locker room 2/3 of the way into the season to make dramatic moves. When is the last time something like that worked out? (Official hint 1991)

That’s not how running a team works.

So the way running a team works is by sitting there and doing nothing?

Depends who else is bidding …

I imagine Tampa will be in the race.

Probably not enough. Need to add a higher ceiling prospect or player to first.

We clearly have a difference of opinion on what’s on the table and how much it’s worth. As far as Flames concerned he’s UFA who doesn’t want to sign. In this proposal Calgary is getting two roster players for next season plus a 1st. If someone’s willing to outbid this - more power to them.

FYI I think Chabot is a name that should be added to this poll.

My gut is that the sens resign chychrun and deal chabot.

If you make this trade, how do you trade for any offense? Teams needs a RW and/or a C. This would give you a very deep defense but no assets left to make a trade for a forward.

Obviously this move would be my TDL priority. Drury would be wise to not overspend on forward (depth) even outside of this. Most teams in pursuit of playoff are cap strapped. The Rangers might be able to accommodate with minimal trade cost to get experienced 3C - I even accept that it won't be a significant improvement over the recent version of Brodzinski who'd be moved to 4C and have Goodrow slide to 4W.
