Results are only viewable after voting.
Hughes or Hellebuyck, but I understand if it goes to Draisaitl given that it's historically been an award given to forwards.

It seems like every year we have the "by the definition of the award" argument but let's be real - that rarely factors into the voting, as much as we would like for it to.

Kind of crazy how once the early season narrative gets going, it just sticks. Do people still think Kaprizov is playing or something (I’m aware he might be back tomorrow)?

He’s missed Minnesota’s last 9 games, a stretch they’ve gone 6-3, 10 games overall for the season, and is now 14th in scoring. He had only 8 points in his previous 9 games before the injury. Why is he still a very close second despite being irrelevant to the discussion for five weeks now?

Well, at least Draisaitl made an appearance, though he should be the front runner. McDavid’s run of eight consecutive top 5 finishes is in jeopardy if he doesn’t go off in the second half.

Can't believe I voted Marner

Matthews has been injured for almost the entire season and missed stretches of games, we had big injuries on D, Stolarz was the 1G and although Woll has been great, we lost our top G as well

Marner put the team on his back, playing in all situations, top 5 in scoring, plays the PP + PK and has elevated his game this season and is even hitting guys and getting physical and in scrums.

He doesn't have the goals Draisaitl does, but if not for his stellar play, Leafs legitimately might be a WC team right now, maybe out of the playoff picture

Draisaitl/Mackinnon rightfully deserve their votes here as well. Won't argue against anyone voting them, likewise Drai has put the Oilers on his back and leading the league in goals. I think those guys are the top 3 in whatever order you want to put them in. Helly and Hughes are also in the conversation.

Marner should be in the conversation, at worst he should be #5 over Kaprizov at this point.
I don't think any of us are surprised

This happens often TBH.

Last season everyone had decided MacKinnon was winning the Hart in January.

Even when Kucherov outscored him, it didn't matter.

For the Norris this season, Makar was top 3 in NHL scoring like two weeks in to the season and had something like 25 points in 15 games. They voters decided right then and there that he was getting his second Norris this season. Even though Hughes has caught up to him, the voters still have Makar comfortably ahead.

The writers are too lazy to watch all the games. So they mostly stat watch and pick an interesting narrative and stick with it.

I'd love to see MacK carry a line without universal top 6 wingers or the next Bobby Orr. Haven't seen it in a long time, he's too used to playing with a top 3 winger in the game yet HF doesn't discredit him at all lmao. Too bad they couldn't stack Landy on his line too like before (he still got lapped) :(

Drai playing with a freaking Canuck 4th line castoff and still putting up Hart numbers.

I don't see how this isn't Q. Hughes based on how the rest of his team is performing. Garland is the next highest scorer at 30 points. The team is -11 goal differential and Hughes is +15. Demko has only played 8 games and been bad. The Canucks are only in the WC race because of him.

Have to go with Draisaitl right now. Leads the league in goals, game winning goals, plus minus, 2nd in points, and when he isn't on the ice with McDavid his regular 5 on 5 line mates have a combined 10 goals this season. The Oilers are also within 6 points of first overall so his great play is helping the Oilers be a top team in the league so far.

Early narratives can be difficult to erase, but this is particularly bad though. At least with MacKinnon last year and Makar this year, picking them is justifiable. But Kaprizov not being penalized for missing 20% of his teams games so far is a pretty major miss at this point. He was a good choice before the injury but you need to be easily the best player in the league like Crosby in ‘13 or Jagr in ‘00 to have a chance missing that much time.
