Oh he's 3 younger I know but as you said, they produce at the same clip for the last 120 games while Suzuki is way better defensively, meaning he's the better player at the moment.

When you take into consideration the prospect pool at the moment + the pick upcoming this year in 2025, the gap is enormous.
Saying he is way better defensively is a bit hyperbole, when Stutzle has a better plus minus. Not that, that means everything , but definitely removes the hyperbole that Suzuki is way better defensively.

The 2nd group is way better....the players you add just suck, Greig is barely a 4th liner, Ostapchuk is not even nhl level. Halliday??? Wow it's depressing...

Norris is producing at the same clip as Jake Evans lol, maybe I should add him since you put him in your top guns haha.

Suzuki Demidov Caufield Laine Slafkovski Hage is way more impressive then Stutzle Tkachuk, Pinto and Batherson, its so thin for Ottawa that it's scary after all these rebuilding years.

Offence is MTL by far for the future.

Defenceman :

Chabot is not even better then Matheson....

Hutson is ahead of Sanderson this year as a 20 yo.

Who's left for Ottawa? Jensen ? Zub? They are not as good as Guhle and Carrier.

Yakemchuk? Ok well Reinbacher is as good a prospect. Who's left for Ottawa? Not much.... MTL still have Engstrom and Mailloux.

EZ win again for MTL.
Clear homer here, brutal takes.

You can be adamant and unhinged all you want, it just isn't all that convincing.

In a one-to-one lineup slot comparison, I just wouldn't take a single Habs player.

I'm not taking Slafkovsky over Tkachuk, I'm not taking Suzuki over Stutzle, and I'm not taking Caufield over Batherson.

Demidov is pretty sexy though and SHOULD usurp here, but we aren't there yet, and it will probably take years to do so.

Hutson and Sanderson are pretty equal, though I much more like Sanderson's physical tools over Hutson's; Hutson just doesn't have Sanderson's frame and wheels. Hutson is better offensively, but if I were to callback to your stance, then you should take Sanderson because he's a WORLD better defensively.

I'm not taking Guhle over Chabot, nor am I taking Reinbacher (major bust alert?) over Yakemchuk.

I'm not taking Montembeault and Fowler over Ullmark and Merilainen either. Ullmark is at his peak and perfectly aligns with the Sens' (hopeful) window.

When it comes to secondary pieces? Probably the Habs here; this is where the Sens bleeding draft picks and capital has really come to bite us. Though, the Sens centre depth blows the Habs out of the water.

Habs are still playing DJ Smith run-and-gun Hockey too, which is another plateau of development that the Habs need to reach. It's easy to put up points and go streaking when you aren't playing complete Hockey.

You sound very insecure. Anyways no Ottawa doesn't win anything by a landslide. I'll take MTL easily. Better players, more prospect depth and better culture.
Haha, ok Freud :)

Sens fairly easily. Their guys have all developed and we know what they have. With the Habs, while Suzuki has shown he is a good player, none of their other guys have shown they are on the same level as Tkachuk, Stutzle etc.
Habs have the best 5v5 scorer in the NHL this year but nothing to see here, move along.

I like Sens top end players more but its shocking how poor their prospect depth is. Feels like they have the better pieces at the moment but its harder to improve.

Not really. Outside Top 5 picks their drafting has been shit for several years. Not really fair to evaluate 2024 yet, but from 2016-2023 their only notable non Top 5 picks are Batherson, Greig, and Pinto.

Technically you could add Formenton. Wasn't really their fault he had his baggage and good on them for distancing themselves once they found out about it.

They biffed it on their 2019 and 2021 firsts and traded 2022 and 2023.

Well I wouldn't take any Sens player position for position either outside of Tkachuk for Slafkovski. Anyway he's going to ask for a trade soon and might be available.

Reinbacher a bust? How about Yakemchuk? not even able to make team Canada junior... he was a reach and it will fire back, Boucher 2.0

BTW Sanderson is terrible defensively this year. Guhle would be Ottawa no1 defenceman.

You probably should have just not responded. These grasping at straws takes just undermine your position.

Can you explain how you came to this conclusion with an actual analysis and not just general statements?

I'm more interested in the Sanderson being terrible defensively but Guhle being Ottawa's no.1 D is also kinda funny too.

Why not? It's easy to call anyone a bust like you did. Or is it the Tkachuk thing? Everyone around the league knows he's pissed at missing the playoffs year after year and might request a trade.

I get it, it might hurt seeing mtl already close to pass Ottawa in the standing after such a long and painful rebuild.

By watching the games, Jensen is Ottawa best defenceman this year with Chabot close 2nd. Sanderson is a train wreck this year.

Guhle is MTL best all around defenceman and would be Ottawa as well. You can disagree all you want.

Okay so another general statement with nothing of actual substance. Thanks.

Just checked natutalstattrick, no they don’t.
Yes, they do, and on way less minutes then the competition.
