I tend to believe that Huberdeau was never going to sign here, had he opted to test the market as a UFA. Strikes me as the kind of player who would not have the intestinal fortitude to deal with the type of excess scrutiny that his home market is known for.

I agree on the sentiment of being happy that he’s someone else’s contract. The only thing he’d consistently be no 1 at, if he were here, are washroom breaks.

To be fair, he was sort of forced to sign them, but the Weegar deal seems to be doing well.
