Shouldn't we know by now? Barron has been trying to crack the NHL since 2021, and trying to crack one of the league's worst blueline for 3 years with no luck. Is he going to magically turn into something special? He looks like 5-6 bottom pairing dman who can't be trusted in his own zone, isn't phsycial, and not much else. Do we need to develop this or can't we just sign a guy?

Must be frustrating for management as well
This is a make or break year for him. He’s had some nice moments, I understand why they want to be patient. The last thing you want is to dump him and then he blossoms elsewhere.

MSL is not wrong. Actually, I find that after he got to rewatch the games, he pretty much have the same takes that we have in here after a game. Which means he's totally aware his vets are trash...and that he's stuck with them.

8 players without a hit last night including Matheson.
How does a Dman not get at least 1 hit in a game like any game?
Washington will force us to the boards and off the puck.
There is a single player on the Habs who hit less per 60 than Matheson: Kapanen.
Matheson has 3 hits in the entire season so far (tied with...Dvorak).

Dmen can have games with no hits but usually it's because the puck is at the other end of the rink.
The facility in which we give up our line coupled with the uncontested carousel in our D zone is frustrating to watch.

This season the puck has mostly been in the dzone and Matheson has 3 hits in 10 games as a top 2 most played D. Hutson plays more physical than Matheson.

And Matheson stopped hitting last season. He was hitting more in the 2022-2023 season. So he is either pulling an Anderson or he's been hiding an upper body injury for 2 years now.

Can't be as scary as last night's game
The projected line up looks scary to me.
I like Heineman but what is he going to bring to that first line in terms of play making?
I watched Seattle last night and they made it a point to shadow Nick very closely.
I think our first line is now a dud.

He is 22. Defensemen can take years to mature. They need to decide if his decision making can improve or he just lacks the hockey IQ to be a decent defenseman.
I think you either have it or you don't, but that's just me. Whatever, he's here for now , by bitching isn't going to change anything... right???

Rangers are a very good team and the Caps outshot them and won last night 45-19, could get ugly, again.

Caufield will have to re-learn that he's not just a shooter.

It's not like the team has many playmakers to slot in there.

Yeah, I agree. At least with Slaf or Dach we had one decent line. Now, i am not sure. Seriously... 3 years. Isn't it time to start seeing some improvements?

Somebody tell Barron that there's a dude named Tom Wilson with the Capitals who enjoys giving hits similar to Trouba. Wouldn't want little Justin to skate like it's Sunday morning again.

As Slaf turned the corner last year he and Suzuki showed a whole other level together than we ever saw from Caufield/Suzuki. I want to see Caufield spend more time on another line

Why would they do that? They didn't want to lose him to waivers, why would they risk losing him to something worst?

Barron is probably coming back of his own accord if he's coming back.
