Value of: Habs Trade Into Top 10

I think the Habs rebuild is over. Time to stop thinking like asset increments for some far off future are the primary plan. Time for MTL to spin those first rounders into current help. The team needs a 2C . Combine those picks for that.
I do agree, but not sure that 2C is available for that offer. What seems more realistic, is another play to draft one of the C's in the top 10 and maybe find a placeholder trade for a year or two until Hage and whoever they draft is available. Many teams contend with only one elite C - as long as other positions have game breakers.
I'm also not convinced rebuild is over. They were ahead of schedule this year, with several teams like boston and NYR being shit-shows

Hi Everyone, any teams willing to trade out from the 8-10 spot for Habs 16th and 17th picks and a sweetener like Pittsburgh's 2nd or a B prospect like Roy / Farrell / Mesar
Dubas seems anxious to make a stupid short sighted decision. He'd probably trade the pick for a more NHL ready prospect that can get PIT to finish from 25th to 24th next season.

Those teams aren’t going to rebound next year most likely. And maybe some other teams start to show some cracks. MTL has a very good team and the young players are going to improve. I’m skeptical a team wants middle of the round picks for a top seven or eight pick. Those trades are rare.

And the 2nd round.

The draft order is only affected by teams who make the conference finals, they will pick the final 4 picks in the draft, for the rest it then reverts to placement in overall standings.
Close but not quite. Any remaining division winners go after the 4 semi final teams, in their points order. Then it is descending order in points. For example, had Dallas finished with 107 points they would still be picking before Toronto since Toronto won the Atlantic (assuming neither makes the final 4 in this scenario).

16&17 picks >>> 10th

If you go by this chart, the 16th + 17th OA picks are worth the 4th OA pick, so that would be terrible value.

Schaefer
Misa
Hagens
Martone
Frondell
Desnoyer
O’Brien
Mrtka

To me those are the top 8. After them a tier starts and the players picked 9-18 won’t have much separating themselves.

It’s only worth it to trade up to get a top 8 pick.

McQueen is 100% in the convo. as well... I'd trade up for him... Maybe Lankovic and Smith as well.

That is a solid top 9 to me. Afterwards it is more murky.

Enough with the trading up and enough with the prospects. Its time to trade assets for youngish guys to help now.
There are no young, proven top 6 centers available for those picks.

All you'll get is reclamation projects like a Zegras or a Dach 2.0 .

I think it is fair to try to get into the top 10 to get your guy if you can't find that unicorn, established 23 years old 2nd C on the trade market.

I don't want a Horvat or a Barzal, too old for that core.

Meh, we don't know that. Lots of guys were traded out of the blue. In fact HuGo were responsible for 2 deals that zero people saw coming (Dach and Newhook)

If they can't make a deal for a youngish 2c I am not opposed to an older guy to play 2c until one of The Habs current prospects is ready.

Some reporters expect The Habs to be aggressive this summer so they will need assets for deals.
