I thought Carey Price would come back and help Montréal have a great Season.

Bonus question : Will the canadiens make the playoffs. I'm not interested in tanking, we got our 1st overall Pick why push our luck? I'm looking foward to a tight playoff race, we got depth (rookies and vets) and some teams are getting older while we're younger. I Say we make the playoffs. Let's see Who got the Balls to predict we actualy make the playoffs and earn bragging rights forever.

As positive as I can be. Even I don't have the balls to say that we're making the playoffs.

What I will say though is I think the majority here are underestimating the team just a little bit. The thought of a shot at another top 3 pick is very nice, I can't lie. Even with the subtractions that we've made since last season. I can't see us being anywhere near that bad. So as I've said since the beginning of the off season. We're going to finish 10th last or better :)

I really liked the signing of Alex Semin. I thought he was gonna be a great signing for whoever decided to roll the dice on him and was thrilled when it ended up being Montreal.

Semin's work ethic and interest in paying the price to go to certain areas on the ice weren't great, nor was his reputation, but I loved his shot, thought he was a creative player and I thought he really filled a need for the Canadiens and I knew he was gonna be a bargain price. (I think he ended up getting $1.1 or $1.2 from Montreal, so a contract that made the gamble all the more appealing.)

I ended up being wrong, of course, though I'm not sure I will ever understand Therrien's deployment of Semin during his short time in Montreal.

Out of curiosity, what teams in the league do you think have a defence worse than the one the Canadiens are set to use?

I'd also be curious which teams in the league do you think have a goalie tandem worse than Allen/Montembeault?

This is more of a gut feeling. Then actually making my decision based on lists of players. The team never seemed to properly jell until MSL was brought aboard. This year we have him from the beginning, as well as an improved player development team.

Also, and I think this is important. The prospect of Price coming back at any moment. Hung over the team like a dark cloud all season. Add in a full off season of rest. The few additions we've made of players who will be hungry to prove their worth. (Add in the veteran players who had off years as well to that last statement). I believe that is enough to make the difference.

My username is one of those takes...

But I think my worst ever was believing in Gomez. It was such a overhaul of the team at the time and I was really impressed with what Gainey did that summer in general. It took balls to do that. I thought Gomez was gonna be way better than Koivu :pullhair:

I thought Ducharme was going to be a breath of fresh air and really excel at working with young players & pushing a more exciting brand of hockey... Would've laughed at the notion that he'd be the worst of MB's coaching hires.

I hated the Price pick.
Thought Danny Kristo would be a heck of player
Thought Jake Evans would not play in the NHL
Questioned a lot the Romanov pick
Thought Leblanc to be a great pick
Thought Collberg to be a great pick
Didn't like McDonagh's progression in Wisconsin
Thought Joel Bouchard would a great AHL coach

You're not the only one. After all I had heard and read about Ducharme. I was excited that we had finally shed the "Dinosaur" style coach. That the team regurgitated over and over again.

I wanted them to sign Jake Gardiner a while back. Oh boy, that was almost Karl Alzner bad level.

When they traded for Drouin I was really happy. I remember reading one of his report: can be a wizard on the ice. Never materialize at the NHL level. Unlike many I don't think he is garbage...its just sad he never reach his potential (a.k.a Galchenyuk, kostitsyn)

I thought Bergevin would draft or acquire the centerman and complimentatary pieces to complete Price, Subban, Markov and Pacioretty.

I thought Bud Holloway was going to break scoring records the way he skated circles around everyone at camp.

I thought Robinson would be our coach for sure at some point.

I thought Romanov would retire a hab.

Hot take: Primeau never becomes an NHL starter.

The list is probably long but Nathan Beaulieu comes to mind.

Size, skill and a beautiful skater. Wasn't helped by the way he was developed by the Habs, hasn't gone much better since he moved on.

I thought we'd lost the Domi-Anderson trade, mostly because I really believed in Domi even though he's got Domi genes. Anderson has turned into one of my favorite Habs of the last 10 years.

I was pretty critical of the Romanov pick and also liked the Collberg pick.

I literally told people to their faces Drouin was going to become a 75 pt player after a couple of years.
I thought he was going to become the French star here that was going to finally shut the Media up.

This is how I feel now :
