Pre-Game Talk: Habs @ SENS, Friday 7pm

Should be a fun one to be at, my last of the year unless I can get my hands on some playoff tickets. Will Demigod, the second coming of Jesus, be playing?

Yeah I think this is going to be a tough game. Habs have a ton of momentum and optimism and its going to be tough to slow down. Despite the L10 record we've been in a bit of a funk I feel and having Brady out/some other guys playing injured isn't going to help.

Habs haven’t looked as good as their win streak suggests. Good bounces, good special teams, and Suzuki line scoring at an unsustainable pace. However Habs are clearly healthier. As long as we play mean and make them pay the price to win battles in corners and in front of net I’m happy with getting one point here. Two points solidifies our matchup vs TO that seems in our best interest.

Wouldn’t it be great if Zetterlund actually scored?? No better time than now don’t you think? Time to flush the stick in the toilet a la Bruce Gardner… look it up.

This game is on ESPN+ here in the US, and the NHL Network is force feeding us the Devils vs. Penguins. Yuck. I don’t have ESPN+, so I think I’ll be following along here.

I hate the Canadiens more than the Yankees, Lakers and Dolphins combined. I’m really praying for a win.

surprised jensen has a regular spot considering staios said they were looking at letting him sit to rest up. I guess it wont happen until we lock up WC 1 and until that 3rd division spot is out of reach
If Jensen is actually at practice it might be that he's closer to being fully mended. He's missed a lot of team skates recently.

At this point of the season everyone's a little banged-up. Those things equilibrate over a season.

Armia has an injured wrist/hand, and hasn't been able to shoot the puck well for weeks but hasn't stopped playing in the meantime. When he was healthy, our fourth-line was trudging along very well, but ever since Armia's stopped being a credible shooting threat that line has lost its mojo and been much more predictable, with Heineman the only one on that line with any kind of shot.

Savard also has a lower-body injury but insists on playing nonetheless. He was very slow already to start the year, but since January he's been noticeably slower and getting hemmed into his zone even more than usual as a result.

Josh Anderson has had many treatment days and is playing banged-up. He's had good results lately, but that's mostly on Dvorak playing for a new contract (and finally being healthy after a big concussion in 2021-2022, a torn ACL in 2022-2023, and a wrist injury in 2023-2024) and Gallagher rediscovering his game.

Guhle has come back from a pretty nasty laceration he suffered from a skate in late January, but he's clearly not 100% yet. He's clearly not the same player he was in late December and early-January on the ice.

There are others but those are the most immediately obvious.

Long story short, the Sens and the Habs both have their injuries right now. The only difference in my opinion is that the Sens have top players like Tkachuk being injured, vs. lower-end players for Montreal right now.

But after the past 3 years, where Montreal was tops in the entire NHL by far for injuries for that period, this is a welcome break.

Anyhow, may the best team win tomorrow.

And if you get the Leafs as a playoff matchup I hope you guys beat them.

Appreciate the detailed summary and perspective. Fans also suspect Stu is injured (wrist) and Jensen (lower body)who hasn’t practiced in a long time. Giroux is old and tired and needs rest. Cousins isn’t anything special but our current 4th line is absolutely horrendous and Cousins helps make that line less of a liability. Both our clubs don’t have the depth of the contenders and those injuries make a big impact.

I’d say I wish you luck, but I don’t, but have a great evening to prepare for disappointment tomorrow ;)

Saw an interesting question on Coming in Hot today: Should / will they play Hammer 3 more games to close out the season so he hits the 900 game mark? I vote yes for the feel-goods provided we then gaslight Green into thinking he's been part of the coaching staff all season and isn't eligible to play in the playoffs.

I’m assuming we won’t see Brady in this game as he continues to mend, and kind of surprised they don’t pull Jensen out at least if not now, at some point.

From the projected lineup posted here, it looks like Cousins might play ……?

I'd play him in the last 3 for sure. Would like to try to beat MTL, or at least not throw the game away.
