The Habs power play is horrible and rushed because we don’t have a capable QB. Lafrenière would be amazing and it looks like we’re going to have a shot at getting him. If we got Laf I would run this PP next year.

All the posters pencilling Lafrenière into the line-up already are going to be quite disappointed if and when the Habs don’t get him.

Can we not save the discussions on how he’ll be the franchise’s saviour from day one till after the phase 2 lottery.

Only NHL player I know of that saved a NHL franchise? In every aspect to this day? Mario. My money is on the Penguins getting Laf.

The very first thing that needs to happen is players have to merit the time they are given on our PP.
That includes Mr. Shea slowly out of your own end Weber. Our most dynamic PP's often had Petry and Suzuki paired together. Our forwards also need to provide closer support on the breakouts and attack the line in tandem. The rest is about getting set up and using our best puck movers and retrievers.
It's sad watching a team like Toronto move our players off the puck when we have the man advantage.
We are missing puck moving skills with our bigger guys. In some cases it may be developed in others it ain't gonna happen.

I get what you are saying. I'd rather play a 4 corners PP.

Have Kotkaneimi and Suzuki running deep corners since they are both playmakers with less than Weber shots to say it gently. Have Laf and Weber run walls/ far corner of the play since both have the skill and shot to play far. Have Petry as the 5th man at the point.
 
Our PP needs a guy like Hoffman who can set up for one timers on the half boards, similar to what Kovalev/Cammalleri and even Galchenyuk could do. We don't have any forwards with big shots who are threats down low, so all teams have to do is pay attention to Weber/Petry since they are the only guys who can shoot.

Half of this is right, we definitely need a QB for our powerplay. That said, expecting an 18 year old to QB it, regardless how talented he is, is a tough ask.

Honestly, Lafreniere's shot would be a bigger asset to the PP. Suzuki can probably be an effective QB and Domi is good at moving the puck, but Weber is the one (overrated) dangerous shot they have.

That's been a problem for a while. We lack any true snipers on this team for what feels like a long time. Its not great when a 36 year old Kovalchuk was one of our more dangerous shooters on the team.

The lack of offensive threats is evident on the PP as the few threats we have can easily be neutralized. Caufield will help if he pans out but we will need more.

I’ve been saying this for a long time, please remove Gallagher from the PP. People like to shit on Weal but he’s got the same amount of points than Gallagher and more goals. Danault who never gets any PP points has 1 less point than him.

Gallagher always gets prime PP mins but he’s not talented enough to produce. Give those mins to Joel Armia.

Thats exactly the player we should target. This guys is a scorer and we should sign him to a less price than Hall. Hoffman is pretty good on PP. cause he can pass, and shoot along the board. He is able to calm the game and make the right play. The guy is respect on PP (like suzuki i will say). Gallagher, tatar are not very resspect, players rush on them and they finish to lose the puck
