If he's so good why was he on waivers and why is Carolina giving him away?

Yeah, good players have never been on waivers before.

He's paid too much for what he's producing this year, but with Carolina keeping $$$, he's a good option. How much are they keeping? If Jokinen becomes a $2M player, he's a great addition. If he produces again, that's just a bonus.

Carolina is 4 points out of the playoffs with 3 games in hand on Winnipeg, they currently have Riley Nash as their 3rd line centre and they still wanted to get rid of Jokinen for basically nothing. He's been horrible this year.

Riley Nash was NHL ready and deserved a spot. Jokinen is struggling offensively for what he's paid.

Carolina won't make the playoffs now with Pitkanen out anyway.

Desharnais is probably only worth a 2nd round pick, maybe and I say maybe a conditional late first round pick. Eller is worth alot more and if we can do eller+ picks for JJ I'd be all over it.
