This is the worse Habs team I’ve ever watched in my life, just pathetic
Yeah I did and this team is much worse, sorry to sayGuess you didn't watch the season after the cup finals run.
Habs fans love to imagine their situation is the worst because they have the inability to evaluate other teams .You really don't have a realistic view of this whole situation, buddy.
You thought Hughes could take the worst team in the league, with the worst cap sheet in the league, and turn it into a playoff team in ~3 seasons?
You could animate Pollock from the dead and he would fail that objective.
When Hughes became GM, the Habs cap space was almost $20m over cap, Weber/Price on LTIR is how they "fixed it" and Price on LTIR is how every season had its busting cap fixed.Worst cap space ?
So they got the cap relief? He also traded Toff, chiarot and Lehk for assets. Without any cap coming back. Maybe wasting that money on Dach and Newhook was the issue? He didn’t seem to have any issues adding salary in the form of Pearson, dadonov or Laine. When Hughes became GM, the Habs cap space was almost $20m over cap, Weber/Price on LTIR is how they "fixed it" and Price on LTIR is how every season had its busting cap fixed.
Ask yourself this. Was the 4th round pick worth the scenario you’re currently in? It’s called risk management and Hughes plays GM like a PlayStation game thinking he can plug in players and remove people ahead of the depth chart and there won’t be any problems.Reinbacher's injury just amplifies the loss of Kovacevic, he would of had plenty of opportunity for reps with the big club this year. Hughes when trading Kovy did it with a healthy Reinbacher in tow. He needed the space for guys like him.
Saying the trade was a mistake is making that assertion in hindsight. The whole Reinbacher injury just sucks in general.
That said Kovy would definitely help now.
When your coach lets you come in and do wtv you want, can’t blame the players for checking out. No accountability
I love your positivity dude I really do, but they have been dogshit the last month.Ridiculous, despite the final results in most games this past month, the team has battled hard and the energy has been there. There has been no checking out, just mental mistakes.
Not sure why everyone isn't taking into account that this team is much younger than last season and have lost some helpful veterans in Monahan, Allen, Kovacevic, and even Harris.
Allen > Primeau
Monahan > Anyone
Kovacevic and Harris would of helped in hindsight to stabalize the D, but all these moves were necessary going forward. Hughes needed to make space on the back end, and Monahan got us Hage and wasn't a worthy gamble long term.
Allen wanted out as well.
Primeau should be waived. There's so many shitty goalies in this league right now I can't say for sure he clears, but I'd do it anyway.
The next back-to-back is a Detroit home & away series December 20th & 21st. Let Dobes have the away game.
We have 5 back-to-backs post Christmas to the 4 Nations break in February. Depending on how Dobes does in his 1st game, we can let him & Hughes split those games. Might as well try them, we're losing these games big time with Primeau in net anyway.
Of course only running Montembeault except on a back-to-back means Monty is playing 66 games this year.
Caufield is looking good, and I love Heineman's game. He really should get a look in the top 6. What a shot.
Roy should be in Laval & Dach needs to sit. Pezzetta should play. At least he puts in an effort & hits people.
I f***ing hate the Bruins.
I love your positivity dude I really do, but they have been dogshit the last month.
They are never ready to play, and look extremely slow, because they can’t break out of their zone.
A lot of it is on coaching. At some point you need to look at your players and find the best way to win games. But MSL can’t grasp that.
Anybody with half a brain would know the downgrade from Monny to Dach would be substantial
The best ingredients of the "rebuild" are still the pieces acquired before the "rebuild" started.
The reality of the situation is we are the 2nd worst team in the league with the 2nd worst +/- with a cheerleader running the bench. It's not about positivity, it's about the reality of our situation.
The reality of the situation is we are the 2nd worst team in the league with the 2nd worst +/- with a cheerleader running the bench.
If you think this is good, not much I can say.
There are 32 teams in the league, you need to improve and be better than them all.
Can’t be satisfied waiting on guys to take over the team, that other franchises of thrown away.
The reality is our management has never done this before and have shown in 3 years 0 improvement. The reality is, that you may have given the keys of the franchise to guys that are not gonna take you anywhere and are not good evaluators of talent .
The reality, other than Demidov, Suzuki and Huston. You don’t have players that will help you win a cup in your core
“Haven’t checked out” buddy this is their job, the least they can do is not check out.Who said the team was good? I said they haven't checked out, yeah the team results suck, welcome to rebuilding. and before this season the team had shown steady improvement results wise, so that's also not true. The hole at the 2C spot and backup goaltending cannot be overstated, nevermind their veteran leadership in the locker room.
But you were so adamant that this team would take a step forward this year? There's hundreds of posts from you this summer saying we're not a bottom-5 team anymore. You really don't have a realistic view of this whole situation, buddy.

That literally the bare minimum to being an NHL player.
I’m all for the rebuild
What I’m not for is coddling players and playing favourites for guys that are simply not good. “Steady improvements” is an empty statement. You either play meaningful games or you don’t.
It’s easy to play when shit doesn’t matter.
The 2c is absolutely hurting us, but if you think the backup goalie is the reason we are th3 2ND WORST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE. idk how do help you.
At some point you need to fire the coach and bring in somebody that knows what they are doing and not playing favourites for guys because of their skillset and where they where drafted
That was then, this is now. Try to keep up.But you were so adamant that this team would take a step forward this year? There's hundreds of posts from you this summer saying we're not a bottom-5 team anymore.
Forgetting someone?Hughes took the team from worst in the league in 2021 to worst in the league in 2024
Hughes was gifted a glorious rebuild situation coming off a Cup Run where all of our vets had crazy inflated values, Anderson, Toffoli, Chiarot, etc were all worth 1sts when he took over.Habs fans love to imagine their situation is the worst because they have the inability to evaluate other teams .
Worst cap space ?
Worst team?
Dude he got a intern coach to destroy any accountability that was built up by the old lockerroom to spearhead the removal any form of quality system, deploy a man on man defensive schema that will never win anything of note , while effectively wasting 3 years on players that won’t be here.
He should’ve spent the last 3 years building veteran value and shipping them while drafting at the best of our abilities (Mich)
But here we are instead 4 years behind the rebuild. This guy is a glorified Tim Murray with his head coach Nolan
oh yeah the dude who almost puked from nerves when we picked him, not a great first impression
I never said they checked out? How could that be possible if they never checked in.You're the one who started by saying they have checked out, it was that I was initially responding to. They haven't!
Also If you want to ignore the context of why they may be struggling opposed to last season, that's on you.
Most can’t see what a great situation Hughes was given. 3 years of trash and we have nothing to show for it. You would think at the bare minimum they would have an identity?Hughes was gifted a glorious rebuild situation coming off a Cup Run where all of our vets had crazy inflated values, Anderson, Toffoli, Chiarot, etc were all worth 1sts when he took over.
They got the 1st overall pick and the draft was in Montreal.
The owner had also committed to a rebuild for the first time in Habs history so the pressure was off.
Hughes gets a B-/C+ for his "tear down" and a huge TBD on his "rebuild", unless Demidov comes in and saves us the rebuild is cooked
oh yeah the dude who almost puked from nerves when we picked him, not a great first impression
I never said they checked out? How could that be possible if they never checked in.
Let’s pretend that these issues are corrected for next season ( ie trade for a 2C and a backup)
What makes you think this team will be better next year?
