Especially since Suzuki seems to have woken up a bit since Caufield was put back on his line. Time to put Slaf there too.

I don't even know anymore , this roster aint it , the prospects aint that great
Suzuki , Caufield , Hutson and Heineman are killing it.
Arber improved a bit
Gallagher/Evans doing decent this year

Savard cant skate
Primeau needs to be waived , doesnt belong in a nhl rink
Matheson is a complete trainwreck ,he could get 100 points this season and still be useless.
Roy gameplay is simply not good enough for the NHL
Newhook cant even get points from farming a Suzuki Caufield line
Dvorak needs to be sent to the KHL
Dach is hopeless , 24 games still does absolutely nothing
Anderson we dont expect anything , we dont get much perhaps we can trade his ass
Armia is useless

If Laine plays tuesday , i expect him to be our third best goal scorer by the end of this month .

Overall, I thought they were in the game for the most part in terms of the intensity. The habs have played much worse games in recent memory. Primeau really sank any chance of a W. Hate to rag on a guy but sometimes its clear.
With matheson, every game is just a question of will his good side outweigh his bad, and both happen pretty evenly, and even in bad games Matheson can have an impact. But when he has a bad game, the mistakes are usually huge. I appreciate him for what he is but tonight we fell victim to the downside.
Caufield is a very good hockey player. way more than just a shooter. Love his fearlessness and smarts.
Suzuki was fantastic IMO. Already in the Plekanec level of impact (which is a legit one, seeing as how Plek did heavy lifting against good Cs) and I think he has the potential to leap Koivu, both on his own merits, but also his linemates/support.
Hutson facing more adversity is great for him, I find he's mostly rising to the occasion.

The amount of changes this teams needs would not be allowed on NHL 24. The Playstation would crash
We already have a sniper in Cole Caufield and potentially another in Demidov. Considering the team's defensive f***ery, I would say we need a good stay at home Dman more than we need a sniper. Do we really need to build a replica of the Make-Me-Laffs, circa 2020-2021? Incidentally, that Russian sniper you write of has scored how many goals this season?

Yeah, Reinbacher is a guy we really need to make good. Boy, do we need him. RD is an issue. Barron ain't it. Savard is old & slow. Mailloux's D is still hugely suspect. We shouldn't be playing either Guhle or Matheson RD. Both are better on their natural side.
If there's a good RD available at the Calgary/Florida pick, and there actually might be, we should look at taking him. And/or, we need to trade some assets to get a quality top 4 RD in that 25-27 year old range.

Nah man, you can find a stay at home defenseman just about everywhere. We have Guhle and Reinbacher already that are top4 without much offense.
This team has been starved for offense for almost 30 years now! If/when we draft top5-top10, if there's a high ceiling offensive forward, we have to take it. No brainer.
Only reasons they didn't take Michkov were the reports about his attitude and his contract in the KHL. They proved it by taking Demidov.

The current administration started on the wrong foot with the hiring of rookie GM and a rookie coach + non experienced assistant coaches. For an org like the Montreal Canadiens, this is shameful.
They traded very valuable assets like Lehkonen, Toffoli, Monahan, Kovacevic, Allen…. I know they received picks for them to draft some youngsters who will maybe be good in 2-3 or 4 years. They spent few important pics to get Newhook. They were scared shit to draft Michkov for good or bad reasons. (I still think Philly gave a shitload of under the table cash - bitcoins - to get him away from KHL). I also know that they had to deal with the cap, and the heavy contracts Bergevin gave.
This season is already over. THAT is painful. If they would be competitive every game, that would be ok,

Why? The team is rebuilding and the worst players on it are guys brought in by previous management.
Honestly, Dvorak, Armia, etc will be gone soon. The team will have more space to bring someone in

It be criminal to pass on Misa/Portone Hagens for Schaefer and everyone involved should be pelted with rocks and fired

Amen. This is an abomination of a right side. It’s sinking the team, at least a good chunk of it.
Dach managed to get points while playing with Slaf/Suzuki a few weeks ago...that says a lot about Newhook.

The Dach, Newhook and Barron trades are not looking so great. Maybe this new regime should focus on drafting instead of trading for young players that other teams don't want anymore.

We've seen a ton of soft Hab teams over the last 30+ years.
And MSL doesn't seem to much care for that side of the game but that's only my impression.
What would you say Newhook's value might be if pitched on the market?

Roy has played two games. And honestly with the way the team is playing he shouldn’t be here. Just let him dominate in Laval and bring him up later when the team has its shot together.
Still think he can be a really good player. But it’s too much to ask for him to carry deadwood.

Right i feel like we are just staying there and we don't know what to do.

The slightest hint of poor attitude is reason enough for me, so I’m not upset about passing on Michkov. As for being offensively starved, while true, we’ve got some solid pieces in place. CC is already a proven sniper, Demidov looks promising, and if Laine pans out (big 'if' with his injuries and attitude history), he could be huge. And Suzuki too. I’m also not giving up on Slaf or Dach for that matter. Dach just needs to get all his shit in a pile mentally, but I still think there’s plenty of potential there. On the back end, I expect Hutson to chip in offensively, maybe even Mailloux or Matheson if he’s still around next year.
But defensively? Yikes. Other than Guhle, and hopefully Reinbacher when he matures, I’m not convinced we’ve got anyone who can do the kind of job this team will need to contend in the long run. Defense still feels like a massive weak spot to me.
As much as a GM might want him? His value might not have dropped as much as people would think, maybe late first now (instead of around ~15 he was drafted at). He was looking good at the end of last season and the whole team has been playing like crap early this season, so some GM might think there is something to salvage there.
But time is running out...and I don't think Habs should wait for an overpay. Newhook doesn't have a spot on this team once Laine comes back. If he was as good as Armia on the PK or could play center to replace Dvorak it would be another story, but right now...

I don’t disagree he’s been invisible. He has. We’re playing him mostly in the bottom six. He’s not going to do anything unless he’s with skilled players and right now the only two guys doing anything are Nick and CC. So just leave him in Laval for now.
Why bring him up and play him 10 mins a game?
