He's no Koivu

I want to see Suzuki when he's surrounding by some actual talent like Demidov and hopefully our high pick this year, but in the meantime he needs to show a damn pulse and not completely disappear for 5+ games at a time.

We're probably doomed until Suzuki and Caufield are relegated to second line duty... if that ever happens. Let's hope.

Narrative building.

Koivu never had to deal with intentional losing. Suzuki can only do so much when the culture around the team is one of losing and no expectations.

Koivu had a much tougher time dealing with an entitled fans and a pitiful roster but the culture of the team was to try to do the best job possible. Suzuki, by comparison, is in a netherworld.

My God this year has been ass. WTF is going on? What happened?
I've been saying for a while now there is something wrong behind those closed doors.
It's as plain as the nose on my face. There is either a total lack of belief or a rift in the group.
Gallagher with some extremely angry words for the bench just after he scored.

It could be because four players were getting all the gravy minutes without really earning them.
That shit doesn't go over so well when it's so blatant.
Some Guys are definitely not putting the team first but why?

Why are you taking it the wrong way when suzuki gets light criticisms?
You do the exact same thing with CC/Slaf/Dach. When I read how our best player for 5 seasons in a row who has come up clutch all the time when it matters should get his captaincy stripped and is a 2nd line center at best, of course I'm going to say that's the wrong take.

I want to see an actual first line center

It could be that losing and losing and losing can be quickly forgotten with winning and success but a positive culture cannot be sustained while losing and losing and losing.

It just doesn’t seem like you can lose and get your ass kicked with a smile on your face all throughout multiple years. Even a simple thing: some players are playing for their next contracts, they certainly don’t want to lose!

WTF are you talking about? What age are you? Were you actually watching between 98 and 2002? They had a shitty team, but Koivu was never nonchalant, rarely ever took a night off. Left it all out on the ice in every game I've watched him.

It's not narrative building when you compare two players and one was clearly more competitive.
