Post-Game Talk: Habs lose to the Wild. Uneventful at best.

Pace should never be considered a real thing if a team can barely ever string any wins together

I don’t think pace really means anything when it comes to this team. We have one really hot streak sandwiched between a bunch of losing.
Let's keep things in perspective: The Habs were playing winning hockey for over two months. They've only played losing hockey for about five weeks – four of them at the very beginning of the season.

I would challenge that statement by saying that during that 2months period where there where winning... they didn't look picture perfect and some games where won despite not so great play.

Bottom line here is that MTL wasn't as bad at is played in the first few weeks of the seasons, but not as good as the record show during that hot streak. They are somewhere in the middle of that with some strength and lots of weakeness still. Where does that leave the team?? Well, I think that they are going to have some hot and cold stretch until the end of the season, but I would caution anyone against having expectation of a playoff spot.

I think it's fair to say we do not have the makeup of a team that can go all out for any great length of time.
We also don't have a team ready to take full advantage of the good runs when we do get on them. We could easily have had a run of 11 straight wins. Going forward it's hard to see us having more good runs than bad at this point. I'll be impressed if we win three of our next five games.

Wild didn't even have Kaprizov and they were back-to-back.

This team is just garbage and not ready for any type of run, outside of running laps outside the Bell Centre in -30 weather. We're only down Heineman and Ghule and the team looks like it can't even compete. Playoffs are about injuries, imagine wanting to make the playoffs with this weak ass roster.
its frustrating for me because it's the only team and professional sport i follow, totally get the whole rebuild thing but not showing up has nothing to do with rebuilding and were three years in,the culture should be there.Who the hell knows what started this mental collapse this time but were back to being unwatchable,i really sypathize with the people dropping 3-500 $ for this crap, and a shutout !! just pathetic.

Party is over
back to a rebuild team
Gorton was probably looking for a wall to punch last night .I can just imagine him saying ,fu#k these clowns i'm not getting them any help at the deadline, not that we'll even be in contention but you just can 't trust them. hmmm and who was the problem in Columbus i wonder.:sarcasm: p.s. they should book them at one of the burnt out hotels on their next stop in California ,that's about all they deserve :thumbu:

1. Why would you argue that pace has no meaning? How else do you judge how a team is doing? If pace doesn’t matter then don’t complain about any losing streaks because apparently they don’t matter either.

2. What the hell are you talking about saying this team can’t string wins together? Were you in a coma over the last month?

Consistently inconsistent. Pretty much what you should expect from a team that’s transitioning the way we are.

Extremely strong goal-tending made them seem better that they are in my opinion.
Obciously not has bad as we started though.

1) Pace is a meaningless in the context of projecting total wins because of volatility of flows and factors.
Injuries, mental fortitude and changes make it so that each game is different from the last when comparing game 1 and 82. This differs from streaks as they are clear sign pointing to the many times the team is able to show they are consistently capable no matter the opp.

2) The hell im talking about is the current habs team that never really won mutiple games in a row in regulation with their starter. Dobes covered up issues by playing so well. + I really dont think some teams took us seriously IE Florida. A couple heaters all happened at the same time/.

Most he's ever done for this country was piss away a gold medal at the WJCs.
That goal af the 2004 WJC was pretty telling of what he would become as far as being a clutch performer. MAF has one of the most unique careers for any goalie in NHL history. He gets an A+ for longevity but I think he may have cost the Pens a cup or two. Won a Vezina during the COVID year where he only played a quarter of the league, and won a cup only once as the full time starter with some of the worst stats of any goalie to win one during that run. Never really a top 10 goalie at any point in his career either but will be a first ballot HOFer. He’s a great person that was the benefactor of being in the right places at the right time.
