Post-Game Talk: Habs lose to the Rough Quacks 3-2

Drama queens out in full force again with their panic "trade everyone!" Nonsense as usual. Some people just aren't cut out for the rebuild, they want to be a middling team that never achieved anything.
How about we go ahead and trade everybody who were supposed to be traded as we progress in the rebuild.
That includes the players who may look like keepers because of contract years and or a small little run.

Does that work for you? Like follow the original plan...

If by 'window' you mean playoffs, then yes I think we will probably make the playoffs next year. If by 'window' you mean us being contenders then I'd say no, that's a few years away.

Reinbacher and Demidov make the jump next year. This year we might still see Joshua Roy (who needs to make a jump soon if he's ever going to get here) and we'll probably see Beck and maybe Kapenen. All good players and hopefully make it. But all those guys are going to be raw rookies. It's going to take them time to get up to speed.

Hopefully we get Evans back. He and Heineman were great together. Matheson probably leaves next year and we've got other guys like Dvorak who won't be back.

This team is still very much in transition.

I hope we can string together some more wins. If we know anything about this team it's that we're wildly inconsistent. The Ghule injury really hurts though. That might well have sunk us for any playoffs this year.

I would say the playoff window is close but this latest 5 game loosing streak has us cranky (rightfully so). Lets say the playoff window starts next year or the year after. The contending window is when Suzuki is 27/28+ and Demidov/Hage are 21+. That's how I comprehend our rebuild.

Will we get a chance to add by trades or UFA? Maybe but counting on that is a reach.

Good idea.

"Who wants Dvorak? Anyone? Anyone????"

If it wasn't for people on this site and their passion I would have probably stopped watching this team. At my age there is only so much losing one can take before pursuing other things. I appreciate coming on this site daily to read all of your opinions.
I'm the opposite, I watch every game, have for years. I quit posting on here for years because of the negativity. For me its all about the team, not the players, not the fans on here, just the team. What gets me are guys who don't watch many games yet come on here to rant, reallyyyy.

The ego boost from winning games is more important to some people than the future. They use the excuse of wanting players to gain valuable experience, but it's all a thinly veiled attempt to conceal their eagerness for their needed ego boost.
Meh, I think it has more to do with social media and what it has turned us into. Most folks especially the younger ones have no concept of patience, it is foreign to their makeup. Never had to experience waiting for something good and enjoying the process.

Well... for years there's been lots to be negative about.

But I don't see how people can't be excited to see what's coming. It's disapointing that we've dropped off after a great run but it's not entirely surprising either. Especially with Ghule going down.

They also haven't been overly willing to replace Pezzetta either.. a couple small shots for some players, but nothing consistent enough to see if they can fill that hole.

Well they're used to instant gratification, so potato, potatoe.

Pezzetta was replaced by Heineman and then he went down. They were going to bring up Roy but he went down... Kinda sucks.

It's funny just how important Heineman was for us too. He was pacing for 20 goals and (it turns out) was probably a big reason why Jake Evans had been scoring so much. We miss him a lot more than I thought we would.

Hutson is hitting a wall right now. It should had been expected anyway. First NHL season against very skilled and tough men. Lots of games each week.

He was my favorite player to watch on the roster, I like that type of player, skill, size, shot, and great work ethic. I agree with the Evans comment, it applies to Armia as well and we can see the drop-off since he went down.

I could see him impacting the first line, he could be a puck retriever and a good shot option for them. He is a utility player that most teams love to have. If he had only stayed with the team in Utah, God dammit!

Patience, impatience. I get it on both sides. It takes time, players need to develop and mostly it's not linear , we need the core pieces etc. I also watched the last Cup win, great, but have now put in 32 years of following mostly mediocrity, with a long stretch of dark years punctuated with a few years of excitement and fun. So 32 years, would I be impatient to want to get it going ?

I've wanted a rebuild for years. Here it is. I have wanted a Demers like coach for decades. He's here. I have wanted upper management that is competent and doesn't seem to have personality disorders. Check. So I will be patient once again, always have , but remember guys, some of us may not have another 32 years left.
