I can understand and agree with benching Laine. What I don't agree with is not bringing him back late in a one goal game. Let him stew for a few shifts. Then unlease him.
HIs 200 foot game has been completely shit. There was a play where he was near our bench and the puck was going towards the corner. He just stands there like a statue ,Anaheim’s player blows by him and retrieves the puck and causes havoc, about fu$king time Marty benched him.

He barely moves his feet at all ever. The effort level is unacceptable.

If Reinbacher hits his ceiling this is good news for the team. I think there is a misunderstanding here.
And if I win Lotto Max, it's also an amazing event, but I'm not going to gamble my life's stability based on it.

Let him play at his own rhythm, he'll hit his ceiling in 5-6 years if we're lucky.

Laine and Dach both back to being questionable out there. I really hope Laine takes his benching like a man and doesn't pout and become a negative distraction around the team.
Wonder if he would’ve been on the PP if we got one in the 3rd.

Habs played badly but Monty didn’t make any key saves. The scoring chances the ducks had went in. He needs to be better if he is going to stay a no. 1.
We signed Montembault to be a stopgap until we either develop one of our younger goalies or find someone else. He was never suppose to stay number 1 on a playoff team. I’m happy with what he gives us most nights. Our team just isn’t very good. At $3 million with where the cap is going, he’d be good even as a backup.

I am just rooting for this player to reach his potential to help the team, don’t see what all the fuss is about.

I guess we'll be on a rebuild forever.

Our first rebuild draft was 2 and a half years ago. It takes time for those drafts to have an effect. We've only added Slaf and Hutson from those drafts so far.

It was always going to be at least close to 5 years of being around bottom 10. This is year 4. We've seen progress, but the team still lacks competent depth and experience. Both of which takes time to acquire and groom.

Expediting a rebuild through reclamation projects was a gamble, one that rarely works, but the most important part is the draft and so far, those have looked really good, with Slaf, Hutson, Beck, Engstrom, Reinbacher, Fowler, Demidov and Hage in only 3 drafts is already setting us up for a very bright future. One more strong draft will just solidify that future.

I, for one, am looking forward to adding important pieces year after year for the foreseeable future. The core will swell and coalesce at some point. Next year (25-26), we add Demidov, Beck and maybe Kapanen. Year after that (26-27), we add our (probably) high 2025 picks, Hage, Reinbacher and Engstrom. That's not counting the collection of dark horse prospects like Tuch, Florian, Koivu, Mailloux and whoever else.

He has played pro for 2 years. he won't take long to be NHL ready.

Time to trade Newhook and Dach to cut the losses, it was a disaster from HuGo. When they are not able to contribute offensively they are useless and when they are, it's barely enough, since they are atrocious defensively. Send them to another team, I'm done.

Laine is so slow, if we sign him, I will lose it.

The whole line is worthless, it's sad.

That's exactly right, so the plan layout is in the 5 years range, before that we have a lot to hope for before Reinbacher hitting his ceiling.

Likely make the playoffs next season. With Demidov. Beck, Davidson, Engstrom, Reinbacher by mid season and any acqiuisitions they will be set to compete. And probably Dobes as the starter.
Bubble team? I don't think they're a competitive team without hiring UFAs.

Laine, I don’t care much about. He evidently doesn’t love playing hockey (said so himself). He’s irrelevant and has to go.
People complain about Dvorak a lot but, today, he cared. He just doesn’t have the abilities.
Gally is done. We know that. Ça fait pitié, c’est triste. But man, he still fights.

Now, compare with Dach.
Dach? Lots of talent. Size, reach. But man, he’s a guy that can’t stay past this season. Sorry mates. His cross check penalty where he ended up laughing about to Savard (who looked dumbfounded by his attitude), sa ‘désinvolture’. Enough. That is a loser to me. He’s going to rub the wrong way on our lads. The ones that are important. Funny enough, his attitude reminds me of Mailloux. No maturity. No self awareness.

There are just far far too many games that there is no push back so you have no reason not to continue to sell

Gally is done. We all know it

Anderson is great he has been better this yr but does any one have any confidence he can stay at this higher level. Lets also be honest, this higher level isnt exactly good value still

Dvorak - one off game

Armia - see Anderson

Evans - contract yr or more of things to come?

No matter what, a shift away from the generally passive 3rd and 4th lines needs to happen

It's fun to play armchair GM and I usually say I would do a gazillion things if I was GM but right now? I would NOT want to be in Hughes' shoes. It's hard to evaluate what we have. I cannot imagine what he thinks about with this group. Right now they look all like a bunch of second string guys.

I don't know what happened during the winning streak and how and why but right now they look like the team that was in last place for a while at the beginning of the year. Now we see why the Jackets wanted to get rid of Laine. I'm not even sure if we should even make an effort to sign Evans. Ideally our third and fourth lines should be mostly all guys in their prime. We have scrubs and old guys there. If we had all guys in their hockey prime, then you only have one vet like say...Armia and we would be fine . The makeup doesn't work. I think we can consider Suz a first line center or maybe a 1b center. But the rest are all second line guys. And we don't have a true second line center.

The D squad has three guys that are worth a damn, Ghule, Hutson and Jack(in a third pairing capacity). Goal tending Monty is solid-to-average but I think we have a real good prospect in Dobes. We could find worse as far as duo.

Coaching, I couldn't care less what happens. They would fire MSL, I would not have a problem with it. This is the big leagues, we don't have time for learning curves and taking time for a young coach like Marty to find his groove.

Alright I said I couldn't find solutions but I guess some of these could be contemplated, I guess. lol

In short Dobes, Suz, Heineman, Jack, Ghule and Hutson are here to stay. The rest can be used to create a better roster in any way possible. (and please throw Pazzeta to the moon)

Désinvolte, nonchalant, indifférent, je-m'en-fichiste...

These are all synonyms to describe his uselessness in French.
