Post-Game Talk: Habs lose to the Leafs. Fail to clinch.

I want to see more from Slaf, this is year 3 and he is allowing lazy habits to remain in his game. I thought he was a guy who elevated his game when things mattered.

He is still young, and there is plenty of time, but from my perspective, he is a top-six player—just not top-line material unless he gets some high-octane fuel in his system.

Demidov will play with Suzuki, maybe not right away, but he will be there because NS is a notch above his current linemates, including Caufield. The addition of a second line center will allow MSL to have players in better roles that suit their skillsets.

He needs to do what Josh Anderson and Struble did and stay in Montreal with Nicholas this summer. No more shitty glasses training in central Europe. Both of those guys stayed and took steps forwards. Slaf clearly isn't learning the right things during his offseasons.

Imagine Slaf with a quicker stride and a better shot.

This game wasn’t the disaster it seemed to be. Leafs edge was all PP. scoring chances / expected goals tied 5v5, just couldn’t hit the net.

And the Laffs blocked 18 shots...

I hate the Laffs as much as anyone, but can't deny that they have collectively bought in to Berube's approach and are playing with much more grit and determination than past years. If they get solid goaltending this might finally be the year they go on a deep run.

I hope we cross paths with them, would be all the more sweeter eliminating them after they got some playoff hope going lol

Team is dogmeat on paper and we are gonna make the post season i can't believe the crying here wtf. They obviously put their foot off the gas after a 6 win streak to make seperation with everyone.

I just don't understand how people can possibly be genuinely mad lol
Saying the team sucks doesn't mean people are mad.

I too wish Slaf had a bit more Anderson in him.

I'm with @OldCraig71 in the sense that Jurai often leaves us wanting more, he has games where he's literally dominant and others when he stagnates. His inconsistency can be annoying but it's understandable with how young he is, so he gets some slack.

I'm not concerned with his future outlook, but we sure could use him now.

Are you happy when you think the things you care about "suck"?

That's quite odd, can't say that I understand that pov :dunno:

I guess if one wanted the team to suck so that we got the highest possible draft pick, then you might be happy when they suck and mad when they play well... but that doesn't appear to be what all the complaining is about in this thread

Laine is struggling on the PP. When he shoots, he is dangerous, but that's it.............the puck is like a grenade when he has it.............Brutal.
He or Slaf for me, can go to the PP2.

The PP1 needs a spark and a change of sorts, well the spark has arrived from Russia boys...
He's shading closer to the boards every game trying to create space. His shot isn't going to work from that steep angle he needs to get back to work from his office which are edges of the circle. It's up to the wingers to draw the defenders towards the middle which requires players moving into that space. The stationary wingers on either side of the net isn't going to get it done. It's a sad set up and the results have become predictable.

When you're realistic about expectations, why would you be mad? Realizing this team is overachieving and that they still may miss the playoffs because they're just not good enough is fine.

It's not black and white, there's a middle ground between happy and mad, and it's called neutral.

There’s a near zero chance that happens. But they are overachieving, which is good.

If you have "realistic expectations", and those expectations are that we aren't a playoff team, then why would one be mad about being in a playoff spot with 3 games to go... completely irrational lol
