Post-Game Talk: Habs lose to the Leafs. Fail to clinch.

I mean before the season people were expecting us to challenge for a playoff spot this year(although bear in mind that Dach was expected to be healthy and having a bounce back season which he did not).
Most prognosticators felt we would be bottom five. Many on this forum believed top ten. Some of us believed that we'd be around 85 points.

For those of us who believed that we'd be 85 points, a lot of that would be due to us having a healthy Dach and Hutson coming. Hutson's overachieved but the 2nd line has been putrid all year.
I think it can be both. That this team do not have the greatest roster but that also the coaching may not be the greatest as well. I think we do not have a structure that the player seem to understand and Marty tend to be stubborn with some players. But there is a probably a lack experience at play here too. I think he'll be a better coach in three-five years from now.
It's tough to really quantify coaching. Is it the roster or the coach? Tough to say. But I think when you see youngsters progressing as they have and us overachieving consistently, then I think it's fair to give some credit to the coach.

SCENARIOS:

Columbus needs 6 points to beat us.

- If CBJ wins all 3 in regulation, we need 2 pts.

- If CBJ wins all 3 but 1 or more not in regulation, we need 1 pt and we win the tiebreaker.

- If CBJ drops any points at all for any reason, they're out.
and their 3 games are against the Caps, the Flyers and the Islanders.

MLS is a fraudulent amateur coach and this team is playing its worse hockey in weeks at the worst possible time. Not looking good.

The playoff run (if they make it) will be short barring a Halak style miracle from one of the goalies, I don't care what the homers say.
We just collected 13 of 16 available pts in the last 8 games.

So sick of the lack of effort
How does MSL fix this
We hopefully get Heineman back next game, and add Demidov. Then you take out Armia, Savard (Rest) and Pezzetta (Both Demi and Heine are better obviously). I'm sure we can clinch, bring Armia back for the playoffs. Xhekaj can come in to give Savard rest and give him some minutes before the playoffs. Kapanen could also swap with Newhook.

Caufield-Suzuki-Slafkovsky
Laine-Newhook-Demidov
Anderson-Dvorak-Gallagher
Heineman-Evans-Kapanen

Guhle-Matheson
Hutson-Struble
Xhekaj-Carrier

I don't think coaches like to string together a couple of shit efforts going into the post season.
We've definitely seen it go sour for some teams who've tried that. You never know what philosophy a team will take in terms of when to rest and when to push. I think a good team has to do both as the string plays out.
Let’s hope. All the Caps need to do is let it get to OT
