Post-Game Talk: Habs lose to the Leafs. Fail to clinch.

Damn I didn't know your Dad was a Leafs fan. My Dad bled blue and had very very close relationships with Horton and Imlach from way back when. I only became a Habs fan after 87 when I threw in the towel after the Ballard years. I did get to see the Leafs play in 67 as like a five year old so maybe I have 2 cup wins on my resume LOL 67 and 93.
LOL no my wife is a leafs fan who bust my balls. My dad was a habs fan but his dad from Montreal was a leafs fan who he would cheer against. We bonded by watching together. We mostly agreed on teams we hated. Esp Boston. Funny my wife is French and cheers the leafs, my Pepe was french who cheered the leafs, my dad and I are both anglos that cheer(ed) the habs.

He's been terrific at developing players. We've been better every year he's coached. We've overperformed most seasons... what's so hard to understand?

This is bullshit. Don't go to 'chez nous' stuff when the guy might well get Jack Adams votes.

I think Marty has been great with players individually but not so much as a whole structure coach. This is an identity of a assistant coach. As a whole, we have been dominated a lot even when we were winning. But Hutson and Suz were saving our butts.

Fair enough.

But you can't ignore that this isn't a great roster. We have no second line. Our right side is a mess... We're ahead of where I thought we'd be.

Fair to say we've probably won some games we probably shouldn't have. But the idea that the coach sucks and we're winning in spite of him doesn't stand up to scrutiny. If we get outshot/outplayed some people are all over the coach blaming him. It's silly.

There are specific things I'd point to in terms of things I'd like to see. I'd like to see Roy play. I'd probably have both Struble and X in the lineup and bench Savard. I understand why MSL has Savard given that he's one of only two Ds we have on the right but I think he's washed. Tonight I'd have had Suzuki and Hutson to start with a faceoff guy and have CC jump on after... I mean, you're always going to question a coach. That's just how it is.

Big picture though, I think he's done a good job over the years with a young team and his teams have generally overperformed.

Just to be clear……we have a 5 point lead on Columbus now (88-83). They have three games left, we have two.

If they only get one point in any of their 3 remaining games (total of 5 points) that will tie us with them if we lose both ours in regulation. 88 each

I believe we would still get in because we win the tiebreaker with more ROW than them. Am I correct?

Yes. They have to win out. Even then, if they don't win out in regulation, all we need is a point to get in.

You don't want it getting to that but it's the scenario. It's why we still have a 98% shot -- a lot has to go right for them to get in.

No, because CBJ would have one more regulation win.

This roster isn't a playoff roster. Saying MSL is doing a bad job implies this team would be higher in the standings, which I find is ludicrous.

I mean before the season people were expecting us to challenge for a playoff spot this year(although bear in mind that Dach was expected to be healthy and having a bounce back season which he did not).

I think it can be both. That this team do not have the greatest roster but that also the coaching may not be the greatest as well. I think we do not have a structure that the player seem to understand and Marty tend to be stubborn with some players. But there is a probably a lack experience at play here too. I think he'll be a better coach in three-five years from now.

Inaccurate. If we get one pt and they get 6, their 3 wins would pass us for regulation wins, 30-29. We need to win one, get a point in each, or have CBJ not get all 6 points.

No, because CBJ would have one more regulation win.
He said if they got 1 point in any of their 3 remaining games (so an extra time loss).
If that case we'd win the tie breaker because at most they'd have 29 regulation wins and 33 ROW wins, compared to our 29 and 37 respectively.

Big fan all the way back to Firewood*, LOL Robert Z'Dar avatar. Tango and Cash and a few appearances in season 10 on cult show MST3K. Red Letter Media did a breakdown of the Movie Samauri Cop, which was also later riffed by MST3K alumni Rifftrax. Hilariously bad movie and the star(Matt something with a D??) even went on RLM and had a conversation about the original film.

I have a signed copy of If Chins Could Kill (Bruce Campbell is pretty cool in person), but that should have been Z'Dars memoirs name.

* I found them when I was looking up some swedish bands on MySpace like Troubled Horse and Great Mammoth. The linking system to similar bands worked good on there. Also found other good bands when YOUtube catered to its users....way back in the day. YT would send you actual good recommendations, not simply something you clearly wouldn't want that was trending, or the same 8 damn songs for the last 2 months. Found a lot of great 70's bands I didn't know about and even got their CDs when I was a music junkie and had spent around 25-30,000 in CDs. Now they sit in bins in the garage. Thankfully I kept them because digital media is getting pretty BS these days. Wife and I started collection DVD again at 75 cents a piece. Having room for them is the only issue, but its nice to have the media avaialbale when we want it.

Rob Z’Dar in Tango & Cash wasn’t acting — that jawline came from making a pact with a demon at an abandoned Gold’s Gym. “This pig broke my ribs, my leg, and my jaw!”. Z’Dar’s character looked like he bench-pressed guard towers and ate gravel for breakfast.

Matt Hannon. The man had the mullet of destiny — majestic, wind-swept, and (plot twist!) totally fake in half the movie. Yep. He cut his hair partway through filming, not realizing they weren’t done shooting. So what did the director do? Gave him a horrendously obvious woman’s wig to wear in the rest of the scenes. And they didn’t even try to hide it.

Salute our Hero's!

Witchcraft, take one!

It is accurate in what I was replying to, not the situation you're saying. He asked if they got 5 points to tie us, would we still get in. We would. We'd be tied in RW and win in ROW.

If they get 6 points in regulation we need to get 2 points, regulation or non regulation to get in.

To make it simple, CBJ cannot clinch if they don't win their last 3 games in regulation.

MLS is a fraudulent amateur coach and this team is playing its worse hockey in weeks at the worst possible time. Not looking good.

The playoff run (if they make it) will be short barring a Halak style miracle from one of the goalies, I don't care what the homers say.
Chill! I love a good shit talking myself but chill bro.

Columbus has a super gross road record, but if Washington is playing a B team it may not be great.

Hard to say though. They just got their asses beat and it was a rough game too. Maybe they look to play better and send the Jackets home. Would be nice.
Yea I can see the motivation of sending the team that humiliated them home and not have to face them .
