Wild that our coaches saw Mikael Backlund and Matt Coranto on the ice to start OT and decided to evolve the game plan around giving a shitty player who might give you a 1-2% better chance of winning a faceoff.

We should become a feeder system for other NHL teams. Buffalo drafted Eichel 2nd, traded him to Vegas and he won the Cup. They drafted Reinhart 2nd, traded him to Florida and he won a Cup. They drafted Mittlestadt 8th, traded him to Colorado and they were eliminated in the 2nd round.

So we draft them high, they do well with us for a number of years, the team goes nowhere, but these high picks get traded and go off to have success elsewhere.

Which means it's about time to cash in on Suzuki and Caufield.

The best we've played in multiple games was still not good enough to beat a pretty bad team. I did see some positives, but there's still so much bad.

We're in for a long year, but we'll get another high end pick. We really need more hockey talent on the ice. Some of that will come from players in the pipeline, but another high end piece might be needed here to get us to take off down the road so that we don't have to rely on too many players to hit their potential.

Both Pittsburgh and Calgary were on serious losing streaks and we still weren't able to beat them.
I'm not thinking we are out of the woods by any stretch because effort alone becomes less effective against the more talented teams.
The next two games will be telling in terms of our team defense.
