Montembeault isn't a #1. We traded Allen, so Monty & Primeau could tandem, because it looked like they could. Montembeault isn't it. He's a 1B at best. Hopefully Fowler or Dobes can take over. I wouldn't be against taking Ravensbergen this draft.

I don't see Primeau being with the organization next season. Fowler will join the organization at the end of this season, and who knows when Volokhin shows up? So Montembeault/Dobes in Montreal next year. Fowler in Laval, so yeah, we will have room for Ravensbergen in 2 years.

Evans, Beck & Armia were our best players. Laine gets zero puck touches with those 2, however.

Personally, I would like to see Beck centering Laine & Newhook. Dach centering the 3rd line between Anderson & Gallagher.

Then Dvorak with Evans & Armia.

Mailloux is improving. He's better than he was in November, and that was a hell of a pass to Beck that led to Beck's penalty shot. I would still look to bring in a top 4 defender. Someone who can play the right side.

Hutson has hit a wall, but Suzuki has hit a freaking mountain. He's flat lined.

Heineman will be back after 4 Nations. I'm looking forward to seeing him play again.

In the last 11 games, Slaf has 6 points and Cole has 7. Not sure how one is deemed as a passenger over the other. They have both been bad. Cole is back to trying his 0.01% red line top corner shots he’s so lost.

different roles. I don't expect Caufield to use his 5 foot body to create space for his linemates. He's trying those shots because there is nothing on the ice for him. Slaf is useful when he is a threat with the puck and winning board battles. not floating.

I'm sorry, but this is getting embarrassing for you.

Gallagher and Slavkovsky (I'm writing about the wingers) are playing poorly, but Laine has the least amount of time and can't even get a shot because the puck doesn't get to him or he's standing in front of the goalie (which is the perfect position for a sniper). Evans is a warrior, plays good defense but struggles in the crease and can't get a shot off, the exception being 2 on 1 breakaways.

Dach and Newhook are enough dependent on Anderson, who wins an incredible many bottles.

Hutson and Savard are a straight up tragedy defensively.

Imagine being a kid excited to go see your first game and that’s the show…
In 20 years: "Hey Skyler-Kevin, how did you become a fan of the Devils?"
It is so obvious that no one trust Monty to make a save right now, they are overprotecting the shots because they feel like everything could go in. With reason.
Reminds me of Primeau earlier this season (I don't think we're at that point yet though).

When Heineman comes back after the all-star tournament I would elevate him to the first line with Suzuki and Caufield and play Slaf somewhere else. He needs to work on some things against lower lines and the first line is not the place for that.

Going to be really interesting to see if Evan's and Armua are still here after the TDL - which is 6 games after the four nations break.

Here is the trade list

Matheson
Savard
Montombeau
Evans
Pezetta
Armia
Anderson
Dvorak
Gallagher
Dach
Newhook
Laine

This team is rotten , Back to Ducharme era
Leave Laine out. I know how he played in Columbus, this isn't even half of what he can do. Besides, he's playing with Evans, who prefers vertical hockey.
Anderson is great, Armia excellent in defense.

I know some of our guys are excited for their week off, but I also probably need a week away from watching this team. Maybe Feb. 22nd I'll be ready to not pull my hair out and be hopeful for a W against the sens. No way we beat Tampa tomorrow.

The 2 of them combine for 0 5v5 goals across the last 19 periods...

Our first line as 0 "clutch" factor. It's starting to feel more and more like we're not winning anything until they're our 2nd line.

If we throw a boatload of money at Rantanen and a massive package around both 1sts+ prospects to land a high end center then maybe Demidov-New C-Rantanen could take over 1st line duties.

I know there's almost no chance of it happening, but every summer one GM goes insane on the trade/FA market to bolster their team. Maybe this summer it'll be us.
I don’t think it’s happening also and i’m ok with not giving loads of money to UFAs.

But i’ve been saying it for a while and people don’t like it everytime i said it but i actually agree that if you have a suzuki on your 2nd line it means your team is an actual contender.

Yeah different roles. One actually is allowed to touch the puck on the PP and still only has one more point. Caufield has been shit and so has Slaf. Suzuki also isn’t really skating. So to say one is worse than the others is being disingenuous. Why is it up to the 20 year old to get that line going? Maybe the two that make $8 million a year should try harder.

Just going to point out that this team is playing 0.500 hockey, exactly the same as they were 1 year ago on Feb 8th. 2024.

Absolutely no progression from last season at this point.

That's kind of crazy. I actually thought we were worse last season. Lol

I guess we really crashed after the trade deadline?

ok I am not a pro player
but IF the big excuse is no gas, out of energy
This is a young team, so that means when this team gets older it will be worse?

I agree. Slaf should get moved to a line with some hard skating guys. Slaf to play with Evans and Newhook, move Dach to play with Caufield and Suzuki.

How did our boy Laine do today?

He looks like a guy who hasn't played for more than a year. Imo, you can't judge him fairly til next season. He's going to need the rest of this season just to get into game shape.

He really needs to work on his skating this off-season, and we'll see how he does next year. He should be motivated as it's a contract year.

So today St-Louis rant is about lack of confidence. Don’t watch every post game conference from MSL but he really seems to be a positive coach. Rarely throws his player under the bus.
