Why would you put Laine at C ?
Our 2c's suck.

Based on his play in Columbus, the word is he likes the puck on his stick and he doesn't play well with others that also do. Word is also that we'll be surprised by how good of a playmaker he is...

It may be too much for him right off the bat. So I guess we'll see Dvo, Dach, or Evans, none of whom are adequate to be a 2c right now...

I forgot. Lane on the first PP wave for a second game in a row!
Anyone who guessed Thanksgivings was correct.
was Matheson on the second wave? Or did we go 2D on the first wave?

We were absolutely robbed by the refs, I just wished they gave us the memo they were gonna hand that ones to the Rags before so we we could rest for tomorrow.

That penalty on their 1st goal wasn't a penalty, the Matheson delay of game sure but that's it. The penalty Anderson on which they got their 3rd goal was laughable and ridiculous even by the leagues low standards.

How we come out of that scrum in the second with a penalty is mind boggling, their goalie and players punched us yet PP Rags. Then the 4min high stick on Dach sure, but they do a clear tripping on our player and score and no call to give them the game. 3 PP goals on a silver plater Rags win.....

Lets not even mention that they didnt call 3 to 5 icing on the Rags in the third period, like theyre playing back to back games and are tired in the 3rd period, who wants offensive zone faceoffs am I right?

Ugh this league.....

You cant be serious!
Yes this year! Any year!

Newhook 23 games 5 0 5 -10
Slafkovsky 20 games 2 12 14 -4
Some posters genuinely only know how to post in narratives. The narrative right now is Slaf=bad so some will go through the mental gymnastics to pretend the Caufield-Suzuki-Slaf line wasn't killing it.

Have you watched the games recently? Slaf with Caufield and Suzuki has been stale.

It may be the competition but they've had some jump lately. This isn't a long term solution for me at all. Newhook is a 3rd liner.

I'm not even going to debate this because for sure I want Slaf to go back there sooner than later. But I'm fine with what MSL is doing short term.

MSL finally getting Hutson on more with Suzuki by pairing him on with Matheson for a net positive result.
Suzuki's line was on for the only even strength goal against but it was the Savard-Xhekaj pairing out there.
It goes in line with what I was saying in the Hutson thread he absolutely needs to be out there every shift with our top forward.
PP1 still needs tweaking Newhook in Dach out.

Wasn't just the weak penalties to the Habs or missed penalties.

They didn't even spot the unpinned net in the Ranger zone until the play left the zone in the 2nd period. Just a bunch of blind drunks on a power trip.

It's about time that the media start to talk alternative to human Refs, they can't do their job anymore.

He's skating Slaf wasn't.
I'm one of the only people who advocated for Newhook to move on that line.
His speed forces Suzuki to play faster and it's very noticeable.
Slaf will return when he starts moving his feet consistently.
I thought he was better last game than today in that respect.

Nobody cares how fast Newhook can skate, when everything else is disaster!

Kirby Dach is seriously costing this team on a nightly basis. He is Jeff Petry level tank captain.

He can play a good game, but there's always a moment where he seriously f***s up costing this team. It's unreal. You're just waiting for it. Oh, here, it is! The Kirby Dach f***-up!

I can't believe I was excited about this guy coming back. IQ is non-existent.

At least Anderson pounded Trouba into the ice. That's now Wilson & Trouba in one season. That's worth at least half his salary.

Caufield, Suzuki, Slafkovsky & Hutson picking up points is always a good thing, too.

Not picking up at least one assist in 23 games when you play as much as he does is quite something. Not even an accidental one.
Newhook skate, and sometimes carry the puck into the ozone and sometimes does a timely backcheck/block, but that's about it.

His passing success rate is very poor.
He miss many loose pucks passing near him that lead to the Habs having to backcheck hard.
For a guy with good skating speed, he's not very mobile and usually end up pinned against the board and lose the puck.
He's not good at puck race despite his speed.

Newhook is bring less than Anderson right now.

Barron and Dach played some echl caliber hockey. They need to sit a bit
I actually thought Barron brought a very different game today than he's used to bringing, He seemed to buy into the program even if he did make some of his usual mistakes. Dachs body language is HORRENDOUS.
