I am a bit more optimistic about Beck's offensive upside. Whatever, Beck is here to stay.

* 1.07 pts/game in the OHL
* 0.66 pts/game in the AHL (so far)

I think we are looking at what you see with Evans today (his ceiling). He's going to be a 2 way center taking a decent amount of defensive usage. Of course, every once in a while someone breaks out and surpasses the high point pegged on him pre NHL but those are anomalies. I hope he proves me wrong

You can clearly see me play the conservative card on this. A solid 3C but going to take a few years.

It's pretty sad that Leafs loss actually broke this team as much as I hate to say it. I think our team and fans were experiencing something too euphoric being up 3-0 and then bam.

Like what's with the shot counts these days? They're back to putting up 20 shots a game. 🤮

Losing a rookie bottom6 player and a single dman shouldn’t collapse a team. We’re just seeing what happens when a roster doesn’t have sufficient depth of good players. Doesn’t help that not one of our three “tank picks” are contributing right now.

Maybe next year we’ll be able to rely on at least one of Slaf, Reino, or Demidov.
Ah mention where Heineman is in the lineup but don’t mention that Guhle is for all intents and purposes our #1 D man. Disingenuity 101

No.. the car that hit Heineman and the skate that cut Guhle broke the team.

They don't have the pieces or depth yet to overcome those injuries.

We got a glimpse of what this team could be, that hot streak was always going to dial it back, because we are not a top 5 team in the NHL even at our best, but it's down to a bigger low than we'd realistically experience if those two guys were playing.

Having secondary scoring from the bottom six was a huge boost. Laine also came in so hot. We were never going to stay that hot.

That being said, we got a glimpse of the future. This will be a good team in the coming years. No they won’t be 70-10 good but we’ll finally have some more guys who can score. And Reinbacher will give us stability and much needed depth back there.

These guys are actually all garbage other than Hutson, Suzuki (he was shit last night though) and Caufield

Outside of shooting on the PP Laine is one of the worst players I can recall watching play for this team, really really bad

Yeah i know that and for sure that's gonna hurt the team. However to be playing like an entirely different team because of those 2 injuries is insane.

Everyone looks like shit compared to a month ago. Literally everyone.

It's also due to the fact that outside Caufield, Suzuki and Hutson, there's no real threat on the team, so teams plan out their games to stiffle the three players.

We need talent. Demidov will help. If Hage's impact is as big as CC's, it will also help.

What do you think is my master plan, or evil scheme, for which you think I’m being disingenuous?

I’m dying to know

The team D clearly can’t compete unless everyone is healthy. The team hasn’t won many games without Guhle for years, when he is out other guys have to take minutes they can’t handle and it snowballs, Hutson looks worse, Savard looks slow.

They are rebuilding. They can win against anybody when the whole team is healthy and ready. A couple guys out and a couple of guys limping and anybody can beat them.
Very good take — it’s all about chairs and having the right guys in them.

I think our team is missing Guhle but with Guhle we were rubbish for 30% of the season. The more likely issue is Hutson peaking and then later hitting the rookie wall. Imo.

Ok. Laine. WTF? He’s easily the slowest player out there. A tiny bit better than last game, but still. What the hell is wrong with this guy?
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he was told he could play on his leg but needs surgery in the offseason, because the alternative is, he’s done in the nhl. He’s too frickin slow, doesn’t battle or use his size.

Hutson has still been getting many chances. The issue is, he has no shot, so goals are rare and the forwards haven’t been scoring on the PP. That’s his bread and butter.

Give me the best pick possible at this point. They’ve dropped too much and others have been on winning streaks. They’ve been done for about 2 weeks now.

But its his pedigree: Team Canada; Memorial Cup MVP and center on Laval’s number I power play unit as rookie, that separates him those referenced players.

This is no bottom 6 defensive player. A prevailing consensus is some times hard to overcome.

Didn’t Evans also play top line & PP in Laval while developing?

It's nice to see in his 1st AHL season. A good sign yes. I will let him prove he can be better than a 3C before I label him. I understand his game well. He's a great skater with solid size/weight and a competitor. A true center type that plays a 200' game. I just don't see him being that 2C offensive type.
