Let's be honest. Even if we were 100% healthy, our D is very young. Rookies and 2nd year players with less than 100 games. When your "proven vets" are Savard and Matheson, yikes. Add to that we lost 2/3rds of our second line, RH Pinard, Dvorak and others...it's a miracle that we're hovering around .500.

Time to make some big trades to get into the higher picks and continue the rebuild. It will happen faster than many of us think. We have some cap space and more opening up. 2 years and we're back in the mix, IMO. But can't sustain all these injuries, ffs.

Yeah I'm coming to the conclusion there is no way this team will execute at the level I hope or expect.
There are just way too many broken teeth in the cog.
So much rebuilding has to happen and we as fans need to reset our mindset to day one of the rebuild. It will take 3 more years minimum to see results.

We need better players than Suzuki and Caufield, they are 2nd tier. We need a legitimate #1 D and I am not sure that Dman is amongst our prospects.

We didn’t touch the puck in the 2nd period.. against the worst team in the league !!

Great loss in regular time. Our team is bad and we need a top pick again.

Outch

The real question is why they are playing this bad after a 4 days break. It should have let them get back some energy if they were running, but they looks even more out of juice.

They followed up a terrible game against Philadelphia with an even worse game tonight.

There were zero positives about tonight other than not picking up more points. We shouldn't have gotten any yesterday too.

After playing great against Dallas to finish our mega end of year road trip, this team's effort has fallen off a cliff.

Just awful hockey.
Tank nation rejoice!

MSL introduced a new "concept" that confused everyone. I use to like listening to MSL and the players talking to the media. I stopped watching MSL speak...he is FOS.

oh now. . .I know I piss on them too after the effort put out in games like tonight and last night, but then I realize we're just in the second year of a rebuild. If a couple of years was all it took to be a model of consistency ,the NHL would be a merry-go-round of contenders

We have the supporting cast, just need a player a tier higher than those we have and we're good. Would help Slaf reach his true ceiling, which is quite high.

What exactly are your expectations of this team that lacks scoring depth up front, and is without two key top-6 forwards (Dach & Newhook)
My expectations was to be entertained win or lose. Effort against a bottom feeder like San Jose is not an unreasonable expectation. Seeing improvement on special teams is not an unreasonable expectation. Seeing a coaching staff capable of making in game adjustments is not an Unreasonable expectation.
Seeing better efforts we have witnessed the past 2 games is not unreasonable.

Maybe I am expecting too much.

With all due respect you are. The Teams 4C is being asked to fill the 2C chair

It’s so much smarter to suck and pray you draft someone to take you from garbage to great
To be fair, we didn’t have any choice in rebuilding. What we’re seeing right now is a reflection of a bunch of things happening at the same time. Price/Weber/Byron retiring due to injury, Petry/Gallagher washing up, years of poor drafting, and a mess of contracts that made the cap impossible to navigate unless it was completely reset which so far has taken almost 3 seasons and counting and we’re still feeling it. Not to mention the assets that were left over to sell off didn’t bring back great returns in trades (Hugo got what he could). I know it almost became a meme to hate Bergevin and his group his final 4-5 years here, but a lot of us could see the destruction happening before our eyes. It’s going to take a lot to get out of this mess. Also luck with prospects if we don’t want to become the next Buffalo Sabers or Ottawa Senators. Even those teams on paper have better assets then we do right now.
