Post-Game Talk: Habs lose game 2. Capitals lead series 2-0

We desperately need Mailloux to take a big step forward over the summer. Hoping for a deep run in Laval. He’s big, fast, and strong, and he’s a RHD with a bomb of a slap shot. How has he looked defensively this year in Laval? I noticed his production has really slowed down since the first couple months; I’m really hoping that means he’s been focusing more on the other parts of his game. His skillset is exactly what’s missing from this roster, but he was just too poor defensively last time he was called up.
Not good. Reinbacher was the best in Laval…in much fewer games.

Too many turn over giving them momentum, Laine wasn’t the only one…
more than one guys had 1 hand on the stick try to push the puck but weren’t using there body if you miss with the stick but even if you aren’t laying a hit you should be in a position where the player has to skate through you…

You said that by saying that the PP is predictable 'cause he doesn't shoot. Which means that since Matheson shoots it's less predictable? He does shoot..not often enough. And while not the biggest often a shot that reaches the net or is there for deflection. The predictability might also come with always going to Laine. Predictability is that Suzuki has stopped doing what he does on the PP which is shoot as wel. Predictability might also come with the fact that Slafkovsky is not a shooting option. Predictability cannot be only one thing.
Not sure how you implied I’m saying Matheson would be a better PP option than Hutson simply because Hutson can’t shoot. Matheson is not the solution anywhere on this team. He’s a massive liability every time he steps foot on the ice.

As of next season, X, Heinemann, and the Anderson line will be the only players that don't have pencil legs. We need thicker bodies to be a playoff team

I truly hope you’re right. Because this coach doesn’t get it sometimes imo. Forget about not responding or deterring all the caps nastiness, the D is completely incapable of moving caps forwards away from Dilembe’s crease. It’s like everyone f***in forgot how they won 3 rounds 4 years ago. Yes yes Carey but he had help in front. A lot
Ahem: Weber, Chiarot et al vs …. Kids, Savard and Matheson.
Not the same D.

Caulfield has been utterly useless on the bumper. No idea why they moved him there and put Laine as the trigger. He should have been put there the second time instead of useless Laine. So if all this puts him in his rightful space...

I hope Gorton is having a nice deja-vu... How can you leave your young upcoming stars around who you're supposedly building your team so unprotected. Unreal. I gotta tip hat to Suzuki, Caufield, Monty, Hutson, Guhle, Andy... They are doing all they can. Anderson no doubt is held together by the duct tape. And to surround these warriors with Laine's and Savards and Mathesons... that's beyond me. That defies any kind of sense.

If the goal is to give the experience, then call up the farm. Call up the muscle. Bring in Xhekaj and let him take penalties and put him back out there right after. Just f***ing hurt the Caps. And show the others how it's done.

The negativity in here is intolerable. We’re the gawd damn 8th seed and the youngest team to ever make the NHL post-season. The boys are punching above their weight against a better and bigger team and they won’t roll over and die. We couldn’t get a bounce late in the 3rd. I hope the Bell Centre crowd goes absolutely nuts for them when they hit the ice for Game 3.
It’s going to be crazy at the Bell Centre. And any bad ref decision will be met with more than boos. I remember a game against the Booins (was it when Max got staunchioned?), where fans were throwing things at the refs, prompting Michel Lacroix to warn them. Mtl crowd come playoff time is a different beast. If ever they dress Arber, it’s going to be wild. Montreal in the playoffs is like the smell of Napalm in the morning.

Well, that massive liability, who plays 26 to 30 minutes each game, has helped guide a rebuilding team into the playoffs. We could use a few more such liabilities. Massive or otherwise.

The growth Slaf will take from this series is so important, hearing him after the game... he seems to be understanding it.
I think they're all understanding the importance of execution. No more freaking passes in the skates, and that goes for everyone.

As he progresses, the idea is this...less one hand poke checks....more moving his feet, more bodychecks on players. You can't score? Hurt them. If they hear your skates coming towards them, they'll get rid of the puck. Just like Anderson makes opponents think. he has to stop those 1-hander frail attemps of defense.

We're the youngest team in the history of mankind to make the playoffs, so it's ok to lose

Sounds like a recipe for getting swept and regressing to blowout losses in the process.

I swear, it's like you didn't watch these past two games where a hot goalie and a few bad bounces are the only reason we aren't coming home with a 2-0 series lead as the 8th seed.

Fortunately this team and this organization is focused on building a winning culture, not an undisciplined one.
