Post-Game Talk: Habs lose game 2. Capitals lead series 2-0

Don't even want to see Laine play again in a Habs jersey. Absolute disgrace of a performance.
Trying to use a butter knife as a spoon is dumb. I dont blame Patty. Nobody is making shit happen so he has to carry the puck way more than he should. Which leads to turn overs. Whos going to pass him the puck? Nobody. He's trying out there, he's just so slow now.

Xhekaj must get in, Slaf/Suz/Cole must stop going 3 deep in the zone, its always odd man rushes the other way.

Anderson must play more minutes.

At the end of the day, we cannot cycle the puckat all so what are our options? We are extremely predictable. do not have offensive minded centers cept Suzuki.
We do not have effective forecheckers or effective forecheck schemes.

And having 1 or 2 of Gallagher, Newhook, Hutson and Caufield at all times on the ice is really difficult.

Really, line wise, what mismatch can we create out there? None.

Best you can do next game is play 7D with Xhekaj. Have Slafkovsky, Anderson and Suzuki take double shifts here and there.

This is a team that was getting stomped and blown out every game a few months ago , now we are playing tight one goal playoff games against a good strong physical team , great learning experience
Mind you it is taking miracle goaltending to do so...

I don't agree. The Suzuki and Dvo lines, which are all players from that era excluding Slafkovsky, are the only reason Montreal has even made these two games competitive.

I agree that we lack talent. But the dearth is from the rest of the forward group.
100%

MSL gets a pass because of the miracle of a playoff birth and team clearly loves him. Hes never coached in the playoffs and it shows. Dude is loyal to a fault and late to adapt. Hopefully he learns - or HuGo clears out some of his faves.
Like barginbin was in love with journeymen, I hope he’s not in love with a team of soft players
Gorton remembers why he got jettisoned out of the NY Rangers' org. He's not going to let that roster stay limp in the off season.

Just hope we get out of this without any injuries. Would be dumb to have made the playoffs just to get swept and injured.

It's ok the non believers will come to their senses soon. This series has been so grindy, Xhekaj is gonna have a field day
Couldn't give a flying f*** if the midget fanboys came to their senses or not. We're gonna lose this series (maybe even get swept) because the midget has an ego larger than his big fat head lol

I don't like how Slaf showed up in the room. Looks like he puts so much of that loss on himself.

I know that he can't start blaming teammates like Laine Strubs Savard etc. But He wasn't bad either.

Thomas had something to say about that, had a heckuva game.

He was just lucky, Lots of blind saves + Evans hitting the post on an empty net + Newhook whiffing on an easy tap-in.

Didn't really see anything extraordinary from him. Monty made the better saves overall.

Glad the young guys are battling well.
Once we upgrade on Savard/Matheson on D along with a full season for Demidov and a decent center added, we'll be in good shape to come out on top these types of games.

100%. I didn't hate Newhook tonight. At least he was trying.
I cursed at Newhook four or five times tonight. It was like he was trying to play with the wrong handed stick or something, so many plays died with him.

Laine wasn't out there for any goals against.

He wasn't even out there in the 3rd, and they lost 3-1 instead of 3-2 like last time.
But he was on for 2 last game I think, and he was turning the puck over all night. He is not even a threat to score anymore. His line would get put out for o-zone faceoffs and instantly we would be running around our own zone. Everyone that was playing with him looked better without him.
I feel like maybe he can rehab that injury or whatever in the offseason but he is absolutely playing losing hockey right now. It is atrocious.
I’m not sure what defending his play does but take an oppositional view to what is obvious. The guy is broken. His play is broken. He is playing losing hockey. It doesn’t make him a bad guy, but it makes him a candidate to sit in the press box.
