Post-Game Talk: Habs lose Blackhawks in a Shootout. Fail to clinch Playoffs.

Come on man you know you have to expect that if you come on these forums. Many of us are very disappointed and maybe have different views than you. It’s the nature of the beast and being a member since 2012 I’m sure you know that. Anyway i’m vented out for tonight and the sky hasn’t actually fallen, yet at least so let’s hope for the best. I think a lot of us are feeling like it’s over tonight and it isn’t.
Of course I understand the disappointment, I’m pissed too, but there’s a difference between that and spewing endless shit at everyone. I love this place but it sometimes feels like that person in your life who’s always negative and can’t be reasoned with, who just fuels their own anger and disappointment in life through bitching about everyone and everything else with absolutely 0 empathy or notion that maybe, just maybe they don’t hold the truth 100% of the time. Maybe I’m being oversensitive/intolerant you’re right, but I just can’t believe how gratuitous some of the comments posted on here can be.

Me in high school: Bare minimum amount of homework to get a passing grade
Habs this season: Bare minimum amount of effort to make the playoffs
You may be onto something. If we make it, this is the most optimal way to make the playoffs while having the best draft position possible at the same time. The team knows what they are doing

We were hemmed into our zone and then stuffed in the neutral zone by a 2nd string lineup fielded by the team that's picking #2OA and is in the middle of a scorched-earth rebuild.

Yes, the Hawks did their homework and yes, their rookies were full of energy and up for it.

However, both the coach but more importantly the players themselves need to see what's going on and find ways to assert their superior experience and skill.

I think a lot of the team is very worn down.

They played a nervous game all night and looked every bit as bad defensively as they did in October. The Amazon crew kept commenting on that dumb lob play out of our end that we use 20 times a game.

Our defense is not that good, and we lack structure. We did surprise the whole league this year, and we might squeak our way in, but the team is not believing, and it has been that way for a couple of weeks. I don't know if it's fatigue, but it's hard to watch.

The pressure is on and when Suzuki is not at 100% the team craters. It’s good they’re experiencing this now and whatever happens between now and the end of the Carolina game, it’s fair to say the season showed progress and that next year we should EXPECT a playoff spot.

Barring catastrophic injuries early next year… no more tank threads.

We need a proper 2C badly and a solid upgrade over Savard.

So, I think that the turning point of the game was Guhle’s late hit on Moore. That seemed to spark the Hawks who were pretty sleepy until then, and gave them a pp that lead to a goal.

I think it was a dumb decision on Guhle’s part and that he should have just focused on playing a clean disciplined game.

Marty has to go next summer, fire his pee-wee ass.

Matheson is my most hated player in awhile.

Team is just not PO ready.

Only a slight misread by him. Half second too early from being a perfectly clean massive hit, that we all would have been praising him for.
I love that he’s bringing a physical game. Unfortunately laid into the guy too early and definitely deserved the penalty, but we had the whole damn game to bounce back from that. Can’t use it as an excuse

We need to stop trying to be too cute. Anderson alone in front doesn’t shoot, Laine 10 ft away from the net and makes a low percentage pass.. Also learn how to not shoot in the other teams shin pads 24/7.

I have my issues with Marty also.........that said, the Hawks took the best team in Winnipeg on the weekend, to a SO also...........teams without pressure always do this to teams that have pressure.

Disappointed with the results, but Demidov did not disappoint boys.

"We're desperately needing a 2C"
"Dach not good enough"

Meanwhile Frank Nazar....
Ok, but that's what happens with the draft. You choose one player over another. Sometimes it doesn't work out.

Hughes specifically said they didn't want to go with too many small players, and even mentioned Nazar's name in a list of small players saying you can't go with that list. So they went after big Dach...

Who knows, maybe Shane Wright will end up being a better 2c than Slaf a power forward. You have to make projections at the draft and you won't get every one right...

At this point I'd worry about talent and IQ first, and size second. We'll see how Columbus did with Lidstrom over Demidov...

They've been playing hard for the past few months. Or do you think the Habs would be in this position without playing "playoff" type hockey? They're burnt out.
They're burnt out... So why isn't Columbus in the same boat then?

After a few losses in a row now, it's time to insert Xhekaj back in the lineup for the last game of the season.

Suzuki should've been 1st.

Demidov 2nd, CC/Laine 3rd and 4th would've made the most sense.

Pointless Laine over the guy with 2 pts in his debut makes no sense at all.
Lacks me didn’t have a point that night so we bench a guy who kills it in the shootout? You’re not making sense. Even if you think Laine’s not a good player he’s still a great shooter.
