Here's my theory. MSL has them punching above their weight. They are not that good especially without Guhle.

Their margin for error is so small. Only way for Habs to win is if they go 150%, everyone is on same page & goaltending is solid. You can do this in stretches but tough to do every single game

they are not a contender yet.. they have given it 150% for long stretches and pulled off tons of games we were not expecting them to... but when you're punching way above your weight class, you use alot more energy... this year wasn't supposed to be a play off contending season... but here we are still in a play off spot in spite of some very bad stretches... they are definitely on one now... but we've seen them turn it around after some bad 7- 10 game stretches .. if there is any hope of pulling off the playoff miracle.. they need to end this skid tomorrow and start a new 10 game good stretch... and we've seen them do that a couple times this season.. so not impossible. but it is 100% up to them.. and most importantly its up to our goaltending... if they put together a few great games each... were in.

The team lacks depth. It’s frustrating to bleed out at the very end but the good guys don’t always win, get the girl, and defy the odds… besides, we’d get pummeled in the playoffs regardless.

We don’t have a second line, we don’t have a top-pairing, we don’t have a reliable goaltender… our role players are extremely cooked (specifically: Armia, Savard, Gallagher).

Matheson doesn’t want to be so overexposed, we just don’t have other options.

The issue is like anything else, they somehow decided to hand pick Matheson as our number one D and so he plays against the best lines. Whereas he would be a 4th D in any other teams. Usually it should be Ghule in that spot but he's always injured.

Showed you the state of this team and really it's a miracle that they are where they are. I think Jack would be much better if he played with someone other than freaking dinosaur Savard.

We keep talking about wanting to get a center next summer but oh boy do we need a top D or what. I'm gonna put Dach with the Calgary pick and Mailloux and Jack Evans and Chris Evans and Sidney Sweeney and fly them to Long Island for Dobson.

I was with you until Sweeney bro. Now that's overpayment.

But seriously. I do miss the days we had someone at the point capable of dishes bombs (sniff souray). Having that weapon is a huge deal. Opens up the space for the forwards.

I've also been advocating for a long time that D >> forwards. A perfect example of that is the year the oilers went to the cup finals with Pronger. Look at the roster. It's a amazing what a #1 D can do for your team.

Woke up pissed off from yesterday's game. I'm not going to watch tonight, too much emotion and disappointment lately.

Disgusting f***ing game, Lane Hutson is by far our best player and he's a f***ing rookie. If it wasn't for him, we'd be below Buffalo this season.

Our fourth line of Heineman - Evans - Armia... absolutely insignificant. Scratch Armia if he's playing injured for f***'s sake. Where the f*** is Heineman?

So many shots sponsored by NASA and SpaceX last game, you'd think Scott Gomez was training our players. Josh Anderson is culprit #1 or #2 in this department, plus his f***ing stupid and selfish penalty to make it a 5 on 3. You dumb. Just embarrassing to lose to the Flyers in that fashion, beyond angry this morning.

Carolina tonight will be a shit show, seriously what can you realistically expect from the current play of this team.

I guess my point reverts to the trade deadline, and Kent Hughes not making any moves. As a fan, it stings and sucks, but I do understand if Habs management took this decision to see whether the team "sinks or swims."

If the team fails to make the playoffs, HuGo will have the ammo and arguments to make roster moves, and play with the "chemistry" of the team and players. Fine... I'm not sure if this was the ideal route to take.

My apologies Pierre, you were right he's not NHL caliber. Fowler can't come soon enough. A proper #2 D also can't come soon enough to take over from Matheson. He definitely needs a reduced role.

That team would need to give their 150% every games for 82 games to make it and nobody can do that. If they make the playoffs it's going to be a miracle so take it as it is and enjoy the ride there's still work to be done by KH next summer.
