Mailloux has many skills: he has excellent offensive vision and play making ability. He is easily the most accomplished passer among of the Canadiens' defencemen (including Hutson) in the organization.
That is entirely off the mark. I've seen Mailloux play quite often and he does have a great first pass and playmaking ability, but he's not Hutson level, nec.
FFS, Hutson's reaction time to make the right pass is extremely quick, which raises his effeciency, which is why he's gunning for the all time rookie assist record. It's not just about Hutson shake'n'bakin, dipsy-doodlin to offset the box. It's about Hutson finding the optimal seams in an instant. Hutson's passing accuracy is top notch too, that's why he always hits the sweet spot for Laine's one-timer. Mailloux might be close in accuracy, but not superior.
