Think it's more a way to show the younger kids how they have to compete in camp from a veteran. Besides him, not many vets in camp as forwards. Byron is the oldest at 29 and he has a roster spot. Like it only as motivator but rather give a youngster the spot.

I guess you raise a good point that our roster is pretty young and we don't have that many vets or guys seen as huge leaders with Weber out too.

I doubt strongly that they gonna give Ward a contract. But IF they do, it is to become #14 forward or help the kids in Laval.

Package any of them with one of our actual d-men for a top-four d-man (young) or a middle-six centerman

Tatar needs to work up his value, he was considered a cap dump by most after one pretty bad stretch. But yeah I guess no one is untouchable out of those other players you listed.

The large majority of players at this camp are 25 and under
