Post-Game Talk: Habs defeat the Red Wings. Solidify WC2 lead.

To be fair, they dominated us and still lost with essentially their season on the line and we're where they want to be. I'd be extremely pissed too.

It's all good.

This is an internet hockey board, there's going to be a lot of chirping at this stage of the season. You give and you take.

Right now, we're doing a lot of giving and a lot of taking though, and that's great. Been too long.

Honestly, what a day.

6 in a row. Remember how no one in the mix for WC2 seemed to want to win a game there for a while? Well the Habs said enough's enough.

Monty (and Dobes last game) saved our bacon. Easily could have been in a rout in the first.

Josh Anderson this season has been a revelation. This is the guy we thought we were getting.

Same as Dvorak post 4 Nations. I no longer call him the plain toast/room temperature water of the NHL. He's got some peanut butter on there now with a splash of lemon.

Getting Demidov signed somehow and knowing he is coming has been like a cherry on top of an insane season. There's no clinch yet but this was the biggest step yet.

What a ride.

I think Demidov plays against toronto, and I think he might play on the fourth line, just so he can stunt on the other team's worst players. That plus PP1 might be a good way to ease him in to the NHL

What are we going to change besides just adding Reinbacher and letting Savard go?
That alone will help with mobility. But I would say another year of Hutson, Guhle, Struble, Xhekaj getting older and wiser. Carrier from the start of the year this time too. Matheson might be the same player but he's a net positive. Overall the defence will look similar but will be more experienced, especially if we can have some fun this post-season.

I don't think Xhekaj survives the summer. Clearly not in MSL's plans.

Do you REALLY think this is ALL Gorton and Hughes are going to do this summer..?
They are well aware this is the most crucial summer in the build yet

They've got a checklist
And let's see how they execute

Completely disagree. Hes just a victim of the numbers game (Struble is better at hockey/safer pick) and he still needs a lot of time to reach his potential. He's very young still and I think is very much in the plans, they're just taking a long term approach on him because we have the luxury of depth on the blueline (carrier addition, Guhle healthy, Struble being a solid third pairing guy).

I would play him over Savard but the narrative that MSL doesn't like him is a stretch for me
