I love this kid. I’m sure he was probably a bit geeked playing in front of 21000 adoring fans but he gave them reason in the 3rd period and the OT to show their appreciation. Great finish.

Laine reminds me so much of when Kovalev was with the habs. Almost lackadaisical at times but just insane skill that doesn’t need a lot of time or space. Sniper version of Kovy

Except Kovalev was like that when healthy. Laine lost basically 18 months of hockey. I think he'll get t much better with time, like Dach.

Perhaps not better, but more well rounded.

Newhook is playing his best hockey lately

Absolutely this is the Newhook we saw emerging last season before he wrecked himself on the net.
He's doing everything now that he wasn't doing early in the season. His quickness in restrained areas is awesome he keeps a lot of plays alive with his puck retrieval. And when he winds up he can skate by everybody as we've seen two games running now.
